My Playstation that I've had for over 20 years has been acting wonky lately, sometimes discs won't load other times they do. Other strange things I've noticed that the game will constantly freeze or hiccup while playing sometimes and then the very next time it'll work flawlessly. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I would say that it could be the lens. If you have had it for so long, it is natural that it won't read discs. I remember the old (temporary and possibly worse) trick of putting the console upside down to help it read the disc.

If you can find a replacement for the lens, please let me know. I have an old PS too (the 1001, the very first model) that has been out of commission for a long time for the same reason.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I think the fact it is 20 years old is causing this

Get PS2 or PS3 - problem solved.

Like others said, lens is dying on you.

Okay guys I found a solution that fixed my issue! Using a can of pressurized air "dust remover" to force all of the dust off the lens and chips inside the console has completely fixed the problem and it now works like new again! Thanks for the tips everyone.
