I am reminded of Sega's advertising practices of the Dreamcast era.

That worked reeeeeeal well for Sega, right?

what did you mean by wow ?

I saw it earlier and i just tought the humour was quite bad and it just did't give a great deal of info about the product. He just makes pathetic jokes about natal (and probably some about the wiimote but i didn't spot them) without accually showing what their product is capable of. Commercials like this always make me sad, if you need to make fun of other products to look cool (the mac vs pc commercials are a great example of this) you're just doing it wrong in my opinion.

Note that this does not mean I'm bashing the "Move" I'm just not really a fan of their way to advertise it.

i meant wow as in this really is sad because sony really wants the wii's audience its
almost funny.

what?

anyone remember the Sega Gamegear's commercials? How it advertised a "full color screeeeeen! Not creamed spinach graphics!!" (referencing the Gameboy's monochromatic screen, and greenish backgroud) This new commercial reminds me a lot of that. I'm not saying that the Move is better or worse, since I have not actually used it, just that I worry that Sony is going down a slope with the integrity of their advertising campaign. The one on TV now, with the girlfriend complaining about her guy ignoring her for GOW3 is great. While I found the move commercial a little funny, it shows they are not confident enough in their product, and have to being down their competitors. Plus, they left out the details of wii in the commercial. They say it is better because of the 1:1 motion control, but wiimotion plus did that a long time ago. They simply left that part out. EDIT I will give them this, without motion plus, they are right, and on Natal, I think they are spot on, since I tend to agree that holding a physical controller is better than jumping around in front of a camera. I just wish that Natal, Move, and Wiimotionplus would all get into a room, and make a great controller

well I'm pretty sure that Move is going to be better thann the wiimote, since it would be pretty sad if It wouldn't be beter than a product that is 4 years older with an addon that is by then almost one year old. Atleast that is the way I see it

Well to be fair, Sega sucked at marketing anything that wasn't called Genesis.

Kevin Butler really needs to get punched in the face. Not because he works for Sony or that I hate the Playstation Wiimote or whatever, but just because he needs to get punched in the face because he's an unlikable person.

For anyone who's curios, try reading the Beta Transcribe Audio captions. They're absolutely hilarious.

When he was saying "The controller is ultra-precise", the game in the backround isn't even picking up to the guy's motions.

Serious fail.

I love how cocky Sony is right now. From what I see, the casuals just won't buy into something that costs twice as much as a Wii and is really hard to set up if you've never had a video game system before. Also, there are no exclusives for it that will appeal to the hardcore. Plus, from every single multiplatform website, they say that the Move just isn't all that great. It's better than a wii remote by itself, but not nearly as good as motion plus.
Also, off topic, Sony's approach to giving players choice of control in SOCOM 4, while commendable, is a really bad decision. If the Wii wasn't a new system, and just an add on, and all of the exclusive games on it would work with Gamecube, the sales of the Wii would plummet. People wouldn't find enough reason to buy it. Sony will have to make some exclusives for it to sell right now.

Isn't that the nature of every business? There's a word for companies that don't go after the OTHER companies clientele: failed

Wait, what did I miss? Was it flippin? Was it failed? Was it funny?

Sony is having pretty hard time reeling in casuals like me, but they're not the only company saying "Me too!" right now. Microsoft, for example. Isn't Natal just a super EyeToy?
Oh, and yes, I would like continue that fishing analogy I just made.
So, the rod is the... um... I'll come back to that later.

I'm back with a shiny new 3DS, yay!

OK, I concede. Sony have made the ultimate motion-sensitive controller. In much the same way that Frankenstein created the ultimate human by stitching together bits of other humans.

I don't remember that story ending well.

Personally, I found it amazing.
AMAZINGLY HORRIBLE!
Now, I can't make an opinion until I've used it, but based on that and the other commercial, it does look like it works pretty well. Then again, those are paid actors, so you never know. [the Wii also had them, but they weren't copying another company.] It also bugs me that the guy is all like "this is futuristic! It's amazing!" when in reality, it's just an improved wiimote.

Just let it happen.

Sony does 3d? Does it need glasses, or is nintendo getting revenge?
