How long has Monster Hunter: World been in development?

Fujioka: I think over three years, at the moment. We also had period of about a year when we were first kicking off the project prototyping the concept of what we wanted to do.

Again, this happened after 4 Ultimate...I know what I'm talking about. The game first came out in 2014...

@Tsurii Fair enough! But that's besides my original point!

@Joeynator3000 Don't shoot the messenger, the director himself said that development started at least three years before E3 2017, so that's June 2014, and a year of pre-production came before that; June 2013. Could be the same team, I'm not arguing that. I don't even know how many teams are working on this franchise, or how big the Monster Hunter team is.

@Tsurii Yeah, that's very likely. So they started on this early-mid 2014. When the rest of the team was finishing 4G (an October release in Japan according to Wikipedia).

Anywaaaay, whenever they started working on it, the Switch wasn't publicly known yet.

I enjoyed 4U WAAAAY more than Gen, MHXX is okay, but I still prefer 4U. lol

Well at least it isn't going to be the same reused old fight, because most of the returning monsters are largely reanimated. Just aesthetically, Kirin fits perfectly into the Coral Highlands.

Also, I think the hunter triggered that lava plume hazard with his slinger.

That reminds me, you think Kirin's original theme will finally be used? Even if they remake it for World. (I feel like all the other themes will be redone here)

My speakers are hooked up to my TV right now, so I can't find it. But it was basically an unused theme...I forget where it actually came from...OST maybe? I might look for it later, it's somewhere out there on Youtube.

We'll see, I'm not entirely sure about the leak.

In hindsight, I think MH4U was better than MHGen, but, that's mainly due to the structure of the story and balancing of non-hunting quests.

As far as actual gameplay is concerned I prefer MH Gen, and definitely MHXX. I love having a compilation of all the monsters from the series and all these maps from the series and all these different quests in one game. The transmog that was added, playing as a felyne, all that. It's the perfect game to have for running a quest or two on the go (which is why I wanted that game on Switch so badly, and it's why having the JP version works perfectly fine for just running a few quests on the go- MH in HD anytime, anywhere).

I hope they add the levels of monsters like MH4. I really liked the whole "fight a level 140 Kushala Daora" for end game, or "fight a level 136 Deviljho". Because we need high level end game content, and without G-rank a level system would be a good substitute.
