A remake of Le'Chucks Revenge is coming to XBLA, PSN and PC this summer! The first remake was fantastic so this will be an instant download for me!

I would also like to see "Tales of Monkey Island" released on XBLA / PSN since I refuse to download the WiiWare versions (and have departed from PC gaming years ago). I still can't understand why Telltale couldn't make a retail release on Wii. I know episodic releases are Telltale's strategy but it should have been obvious from the beginning that WiiWare's very small size limit would result in graphics/sound issues.

Loved the first remake, so this is an instant buy for me. Now if they would only release Grim Fandango and Full Throttle on steam as well!

There he goes, Firkraag. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. - My VGscore

This is awesome news indeed! I really enjoyed the first remake on XBLA so this will be an instant download for me. I hope that Tales of Monkey Island will be coming to XBLA and PSN too.

well i'll have to play it on the pc, though i still have the original. can't believe they won't release this on the wii, so depressing. how do you even play adventure games without a mouse/wiimote. fail.

The graphics/sound issues on the wii version of Monkey Island Tales has been rather overplayed in my view.

Yes, it's occasionally choppy and the odd glitch here and there.
But nowhere near as bad as some of the more excitable reviewers and gamers around would have you believe.

A WiiWare release is impossible to WiiWare's size limit. The Special Edition of the first game was already about 500 Mb on XBLA. The only option would be a Wii retail release. It was a stupid decision by Nintendo to save money on the storage space of Wii.

I enjoyed the XBLA version very much and didn't even miss the mouse controls any time. The gamepad controls work perfectly for me especially since the response time is completely irrelevant in this kind of game.

they can release it in several installments. it's not different into releasing several dvd discs. not to mention there's something called compression technology. I don't see how this is about saving money - yes they should lift the size limit which I don't see why it's there in the first place, but 500mb is nothing on an sd card.

glad you enjoyed it, but I've played adventure games with mice all my life and I will not move an analog stick/d-pad to move a cursor on a screen if that's what the xbla version did. for me that's a huge fail.

@mnementh: I think compression technology is already used in the XBLA-version at least for the voice files. Reducing the size to 40 Mb is just impossible by the amount of audio files. The SD-card update unfortunately didn't change the size limit. All VC or WiiWare games started from a SD-card are loaded completely into Wii's memory before playing. LucasArts could release the original for WiiWare though (without new graphics and voice over) or make a retail disc with both special editions.

I played all LucasArts Adventures in the 90ies with mice (except Grim Fandango + Monkey Island 4 of course) and didn't have any trouble with the Xbox360 controls. Although I can understand why some people don't like playing a FPS with gamepad but this is an adventure game where you can't even die (if you avoid being under water for 10 minutes!) and have all the time in the world to react. So I see no point why new controls would change the gaming experience of a masterpiece like Monkey Island since the defining dialogues, humor, puzzles and story are all the same.

So why didn't the first one come out on PSN, but the second one is? This is disappointing to me!

You don't have to be disappointed any more. A PSN release of the first one was also announced by LucasArts.

I just can't play it without a mouse or a "bird" which is what the wiimote's cursor is. Sorry. I like just moving the cursor around the screen really fast sometimes for fun and it's better that way. In Monkey Island there's a part where you have to find that nose on the statue... it wouldn't work differently for me. Analog stick is not precise, it's frustrating to pinpoint where you want. Hmm it's true that it loads it to the memory first, but that is half a gig there. Without size limit, they can release the same game in two installments. with size limits, they can either compress better or release short episodes for 100/200 points. The truth is that monkey island 2 (or any) is seperated into episodes as it is with new settings new islands in every stage that you can't come back to before when the story rolls on, so there's not much a technical problem. btw, I certainly don't need (or have to have) an audio track, it'll take away a little from the music emphasis humor and atmosphere in monkey island 2. this is btw my favorite game ever..

LucasArts has finally announced the release date: July 7, 2010

Can't wait to play this masterpiece again!

Tales of Monkey Island is now also available on PSN. The whole season for just $ 20! But no XBLA release has been announced so far. Another reason for me to finally buy a PS3 this year.

PS: Only one more week to wait until LeChuck's Revenge will hit us!!!

It will also be on Mac. Me and Cedric can play it together!

I wouldn't trade my WiiWare Tales of Monkey Island for any other version. The naturalness and ease of aiming with the Wii remote really is fundamental to enjoying it on the big screen from the couch. I also concur with an above poster that the framerate / sound issues were not as bad as reported. After the first episode, I didn't notice any issues at all.

I got my points set aside for Monkey Island 2: Special Edition on the XBLA. I figured I should just get it on my Xbox 360 since I already have the first one on there. I was waiting for Tales of Monkey Island to come to the XBLA but since it came to the PSN I just got it there instead. Plus, it was only $19.99. A much better alternative than paying $50 for the WiiWare version.

I've played the remake of 1. I hope the remake of LeChuck's Revenge will also be good.

Getting it on Steam right now would be your best option, comes with Monkey Island 1 for free.
