Absolutely! I'm a fan of FFS and their Awesome Video Games podcast from a few years back. It's good to see they're still making things.

There's clearly a lot of interest in Minecraft in this thread - has the idea of joining together in a server ever come up?
I've only spent about 10 minutes online so far, but yesterday, I finally forwarded my ports (and understood how) for minecraft, and I'm looking to finally get online and play some regular co-operative minecraft, but looking at the community forums, there are so many different groups - some with certain requirements and whitelists
On the technical side, you can either:
Run the server & game on your computer
Run the server on one computer, and the game on a seperate computer.
Run just server on your computer (but then you wouldn't be able to play)
The reason for these options is that to run a minecraft server (to a high standard), you need both RAM and a relatively high Internet connection. But there is a fourth option...
Rent a server from a third party.
I don't know the specifics, but for all intents and purposes, you get the benefits of running your own server (admin and ops priveliges) albeit sometimes with special plugins that allow minecraft to be played in strange ways. Plus, if no one has a computer and internet connection that can adequately run Minecraft and a server (check here), renting a server would be the best option.
Naurally, servers come at a cost, and they vary greatly in price depending on how many players are able to join the server or how big the world is. If I can find a good, modest (but functional) deal, I'll be willing to cover the costs.
We can discuss this idea, then if need be, make a seperate thread if we decide to go further with it.
I have been playing on a server that was recommended to me by this one guy I didn`t really know. Small server and everyone play by the rules. Has a whitelist and not too many people go on and so you don`t have to worry about stuff getting stolen. It is a ton of fun though. You can get so much more done when there are other people there too lol

Apparently Beta 1.7 is supposed to add hedgetrimmers. Finally, we'll be able to place leaves!
I thought you were taking the pizzicato there when I read that comment, but that sounds brilliant! You can make hedges with leaves. But otherwise, the 1.7 update is more than just placeable leaves. One such addition is a series of pistons, which seem quite useful.
Also, this one's for Aviator. Has anyone seen this? :
Check out their minecraft videos if you haven't already. They have a great play style and rapport, and their minecraft videos (their "Shadow of Israphel" series in particular) are refreshingly unique - in the world of Minecraft Let's Plays.
A friend of mine and I are currently hosting a server, which is currently fairly underpopulated. Due to the fact the IP address of this server is dynamic, the IP will be tweeted daily at http://twitter.com/#!/sabinnoonline We hope to see you there.

And you got all those diamonds from mining right...

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

That would be 1.440.000 diamonds to make enough blocks. Building it was enough. Invedited it, but i don't see the issue with that to be honest, since classic was no option for this project and doesn't support all the blocks, diamond was perfect from a visual standpoint.
I got terraria, and i find it's just a lame MC ripoff, some of my friends think alike, some other friends think i'm mad.
I'm gonna be getting a new laptop just so I can play Minecraft on it's highest settings. I think I'm gonna get a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5271 but I really don't know if that's the best choice. Any help? (Though, I really like the design and look of the Satellite so I might just end up getting it anyway :3).

Potions.... Enchantments..... The End.... Stronger Endermen.... New Nether stuff.... Dragons.... Dragons.... Dragons.... Dragons.... Dragons.... Dragons.... It's like Skyrim. Oh I can't wait for the full edition of the adventure update.

I am The Guy. I got all the shiny trinkets. Perfect score on every Yoshi's Island level. I beat Dark Link. Basically, I'm Awesome.
So, I finally bought Minecraft after riding off of the generosity of my friends. To me it stills feels like Minecraft, which is a game that I've played for hours but never quite liked. Hopefully all of these weekly 1.9 pre-releases will change my mind.

@V8_Ninja You ought to try out some mods if you haven't already.
In particular, a set of mods called "The Technic Pack" adds automated machinery, oil, firearms and nuclear reactors.
All the while, Notch and his team are adding junk potions, wolves, useless maps and sheep shears. They totally change the game, these mods.
It's been just the thing to get me back into Minecraft, because between the ugly terrain generation (giant bayous bordering tiny deserts, bordering plains AND THOSE BLOODY ENDERMEN, I've begun to lose interest in it.
I can't say I'm too into the potions myself. The Technic Pack looks amazing, but it seems a lot of the bigger stuff is really only attainable on a server with a few other people. I do like the idea of enchantments though. The Enderman are also supposed to be rare, but they haven't been adjusted yet to ensure they are properly tested. Or that's how it was originally supposed to be.
