Topic: Marvel and Star Wars could appear in Kingdom Hearts III

While it's far from a confirmation, I'm so happy to read this. It's something I've been hoping for ever before KH3 was announced but didn't think there was any chance of it happening.

This was mentioned many months ago in previous interviews, but as far as Marvel goes, I think the most we can hope for is a Thor hammer for Donald and a Captain America shield for Goofy, or something like that. To be honest, I don't ever want to see people like Spiderman or Wolverine interacting with Sora and Disney characters. If they want a superhero kind of world, I'd much prefer a Disney/Pixar franchise like The Incredibles.

As for Star Wars, I'm much more open too it, even though I don't particularly like the series. Star wars would be a lot like TRONS world, and Pirates of the Caribbean. However, If they can't get the rights for using the characters and the universe, I think they'd allow for a Lightsaber Keyblade.

I loved TRON and was semi-okay with the Pirates world, but that was already pushing it. I don't really ever want to see a Marvel or Star Wars character in KH, much less a whole world based on those franchises. Now, a Keyblade or maybe a summon or some other gimmick, that's fine by me. Besides, there's so many more Disney worlds they haven't visited, so much more potential. I still want that Treasure Planet world, or something with the Rescuers.

There's still so much left of Disney that they have yet to cover. Its the same reason why I'm disappointed that Disney Infinity went the Marvel route so early in the franchise. for I wouldn't mind an item here or even a summon there for Marvel/Star Wars, but I think worlds based off of those properties would dilute the mixture of Disney and Square that they spent quite a few games cultivating.

On that note, is the Kingdom Hearts II HD Remix worth picking up just for Birth By Sleep? I haven't played any of the spinoffs save for COM, and I heard that BBS was the best of them. It's been years since I've played any KH game and I would like to get back into the franchise after skipping out on it for so long.

It is possible but I don't think it is likely.

Yeah, although possible, I don't think it's too likely. After all we're 7 games into the series, and they haven't even given Pixar (which I'd say is much more likely than Marvel or SW) so much as a reference (and this isn't even counting the remakes/re-releases).

They've never gone outside the realm of "core" Disney (Yes, even Pirates & Tron are "core" Disney), and based on this consistent past action, I don't think things are likely to change.

I'm thinking we'll see Frozen & Maleficent (and possibly Wreck it Ralph) in terms of newer properties.

@RR529: Actually Both Buzz and Woody were planned for the first Kingdom Hearts but were scrapped at the last minute. Using hack devices you can access their models although they are missing their textures.

I know that, but planning on doing something and actually going through with it are very different things.

I think it's important to ask, why were they cut?

If it was due to time constraints, why not include them in one of the many games that came after?

Likely, I think that while they most definitely were planned, either SE or Disney made the conscious decision to stick to "core" properties. Otherwise, I think they would've shown up by this point.

Actually it was planned for the SECOND game

Now that the game runs on Unreal Engine 4, there is a chance for a Wii U release. Kingdom Hearts 3 would certainly sell better than any weird Nintendo exclusive Final Fantasy spin-off. But yeah, I feel like Toy Story and Frozen are almost guaranteed to be in the game.

Frozen for sure, less so on Toy Story. Would love to see both in the game, however.

I feel like Frozen is definitely going to be in there. Toy Story would be really cool and it would be a good fit. As for Marvel and Star Wars... I don't know. As it's already been said, that would be a lot like the Tron and Pirates worlds, and I wasn't too big of a fan of those ones. There are many other untouched Disney titles that could go into it instead (or could reappear and be fleshed out), and I would rather see that. I'd be cool with some kind of Star Wars/Marvel keyblades and/or weapons for Goofy and Donald.

A Star Wars world could work, at least better than a Marvel world would. I do not like this style, but they could use the cartoony Clone Wars style if the real-life models would not work. (though I think they would continue with those, since they still used them for The Grid in KH3D)

As far as a Marvel world would go, I'm really not sure. Would they take a comic style approach or replicate from an MCU movie? And if so, which superhero would they choose? I don't see characters that take place in more modern situations working well, so no Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, etc. Something with more fantasy would work, like an Asgard world. If anything we possibly could see a summon of the Avengers. I can also see some Big Hero 6 working, as it's now both Marvel and Disney.

I hate that Marvel is a Disney thing now. I'm tired of these lame superheroes popping up in my Disney games.
