Yep, if you subscribe to PSN+ between the dates of June 29th and Aug 3rd you will recieve LBP Free via download. Lets see that is $50 bucks for PSN+ yearly subscription and you get Little Big Planet PS3 FREE normally $60.... oh and your getting Wipeout HD and Rally Cross PSone and 2 Minis that have been confirmed. That is up to around $95 bucks for only $50..... Yep Im thinking its a pretty dang good deal!

Little Big Planet is normally $30, and goes for more like $20 used. The other games don't seem to be anything good, either. I'd rather have a permanent copy of LBP if I got it though. Having to keep subscribing to play these games is less than ideal.

OK.... But still and yet, I dont think there can be an argument that if you live in Europe and you havent played LBP this is a dang good deal. What other service or company has offered anything like this?

I only meant to point out that you had the wrong price, but since you ask.

No, I can't think of anything remotely similar, but saying it's "free" when you have to pay $50 for it and it expires in a year, at which point you have to buy it again, is just Sony manipulating semantics. For $20-30 less, you can get the game forever, and if you don't like it, you can even sell it again, at which point you'll probably make all but $10 back.

I'm sure if someone likes absolutely everything included in this thing there's a good deal to be had. I'm just not a fan of temporary ownership.

LBP is normally 17 Euro.
I'm sorry but not being able to keep the games is a very stupid idea and will pretty much make people not care for PSN+.
Looking on forums, seems to me that many people have already shrugged at PSN+.

Sorry i got the price wrong. I bought it at release day for $60. I thought it was a good deal and somebody here might be interested. Not to argue the price. But considering its from Sony and i posted it here it doesn't surprise me. Feel free to spam the thread into oblivion.

That's a great deal, LittleBigPlanet is on of the best platform games in the past couple of years. I for one will be signing up to PSN+

I only meant to inform you and others, Slap. I have no idea why the comment required two others to confirm it, especially when you didn't even object. Still a good deal for those who will likely get a lot of use out of it year round, rather than someone just trying to get a deal on LBP or one or two other games.

First, a question:

I heard that the free games are only available for a month, then switched to something else - so instead of actually "getting" a game, you have limited-time access to a glorified rental or demo service. Are you sure you get to keep any/all of the games? It's very possible I was misinformed!

Second, I think people should chill out a bit. I'm not a big fan of PSN+ or LBP... but this obviously has value for some people. Even if you don't get to keep the games, most people I know only play a game for 3-4 weeks before moving on to something different anyway -- especially core gamers that seem to be the target market for PSN+. My only concern is whether the games Sony is offering are relevant. Won't most PS3 fans interested in PSN+ online service likely own LBP and Wipeout HD already?

Even if you get the games only for a month - the duration of accessibility hasn't been determined yet - that would be plenty of time to beat most and move on. Still sounds pretty enticing to me, as I could get my money's worth out of a yearly subscription within three months or so.

I'm still withholding full judgment though until Sony has the complete list of all benefits of PSN+.

Wait, wouldn't it be a download then? That'd take up a lot of space.

The games ARE available for the full term of your subscription. And if you let your subscription expire and then renew you get it all back. Its been confirmed.

Thank you! That's a much better deal, as long as you don't already own the game.

How big are these games to download? Will hard drive space be an issue?

@ejamer.... Im not sure about LBP, but I know that its been confirmed that in NA you will get a Free Full Game Trial of Infamous. You get limited access to the full game, then when the time limit hits it stops and you have the option to buy as download or the disc itself and you keep everything unlocked. You get big discounts on everything purchased so Im sure your looking at like 50% off retail if you buy.

IMO, PSN+ = bad deal. Downloading a retail game or an episode of Qore takes FOREVER on the PS3.

If you own a PS3 and you don't already have LBP, I don't see why would this be good justification for you to pay to rent it from them. Not when LBP2 has been announced and your game will be obsolete in less than 6 months.

I don't know, on the flip-side, I hear PSN's European staff actually do good work, so it might be a good idea to sign up to support them and also because you aren't likely to get screwed, all in all, its not that much money and SCEE will probably make it worth it for you to plunk down.

I am American however and SCEA isn't getting any more of my subscription money. The NA staff simply just doesn't deserve it, awful promotions, sales no one care about, crappy/late PSN store updates, shoddy/lackluster digital library and staffed by people that don't care about the wants of the end customer; they really ought to fire everyone and start over. It especially ticks me off when companies take a $#!+ on current customers over new ones, you see plenty of complaints and no replies on PS Blog anytime one of those come up. All that coupled with the fact that I don't believe in renting games, I don't find it necessary to pay for an already free, awful service.

PSN+ comes with Automatic Downloads as one of the reasons to buy the service.

Do you own a PS3? Ive yet to see a Free Service that can touch PSN!

@slapshot82: I own a PS3 and I read what PSN+ has to offer. I also have LBP, Infamous, Wipeout HD, along with some of the other games they're offering. I'm not going to be paying for it, but here are my reasons. Their exclusive updates sound like things that they should supply users of PSN already and sounds like they just took things they were planning on updating for everyone and decided to charge for it instead. I'm not gonna comment on rumored "features" just what has been stated so far.

Video editor/uploader, if its recording games, that is admittedly cool, but not worth me paying for. I recognize this feature is probably only useless to me since I don't care for social networking, but hey, if its worth the money for you, go for it.

Early demos? Sounds like they're holding back demos for non-payers to me. Why wouldn't they just release demos to everyone at the same time? I'd expect them to hold back free content until later to artificially create demand for them from now on.

Automatic downloads of patches and firmware? They require you to download them anyways, so its not really any different except it won't give you a warning about being unable to access PSN before you finish updating, big whoop.

I own a PS3 and I spend plenty on digital content, definitely more than most people. What I wrote above is my observations about PSN over the years and I've heard plenty complain about similar points as well as a minority that claim they've never experienced any issues on their personal magical PSN connection or PS3.

For me, the money is not an issue, but the worth. As for the free service argument, that's a common one I've heard ever since PSNs inception and I'm assuming you mean on consoles not computers. "Hey, its not bad for free!" Its free because it doesn't truly hold a candle to Xbox Live, but now that they're charging for PSN+, fanboys(present company excluded) will just state that they're not paying for improvements to multiplayer, etc if there is no sign of improvement. I've heard all the arguments before that Live only opens ports for gaming, that there's no servers, etc and I still wait for the day that PSN will be an equivalent experience, but I'm not holding my breath and I'll wait a year for the guinea pigs to talk about all the improvements to PSN as a paid for service before I believe it.

Did I mention I'm one of the unlucky few that supported Sony's experiment, the PSPgo? Funny thing is, they never told anyone it was an experiment, but in case you're not an owner, the real important thing you should know is that it isn't a bad piece of hardware. NA PSN simply doesn't support it and they don't fail to disappoint on some level every week for PSP digital content. Like I stated in my last post, if you're from EU and I'm assuming you are slapshot82, I say go for it, get PSN+ because it sounds like your PSN staff actually decides to go to work on time, makes an effort to help its customer base and get you awesome promos. If you're in America, pass or at least be prepared to be disappointed. Yes, in case you didn't know, its like that.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
