I should note that everything I've played this year was released in years prior. I'll do my top 5.

5. Lost Planet: Exreme Condition (360) - A pretty standard shooter in terms of gameplay, but it works well, the mechs are pretty fun once you get the hang of them, and I'll be remembering some of the impressively large bosses for quite some time.

4. Metal Gear Rising (360) - The action is slick, makes you feel totally bada**, and Kojima's own unique brand of humor & Easter eggs finds it's way in. Looks gorgeous, too.

3. Zone of the Enders: the Second Runner HD (360) - While I somewhat missed the somewhat more open world of the first game, this game improves on nearly everything else (better graphics, more refined gameplay, more varied mission types, more bosses, etc.). It's never felt better piloting a giant robot, and some of the later missions are suitability epic.

2. Dragon Quest IV (Android) - This was my first time playing a DQ game, and it was nice playing a JRPG that sticks soley to the basics in terms of gameplay (no complicated skill trees, crafting systems, etc.). In some ways it was a bit too old school (like the fight with the Yeti), but it also had some unique ideas (like the fact each party member has their own quest before the main one). Also, I liked the fact that locations were close enough to each other that I never got lost, and that each town truely felt unique (the different accents was a really cool touch, like you're really travelling between different lands, each with their own culture).

1. Final Fantasy IV (Android) - I have actually played this before on GBA, but this was my first time actually completing it. Despite the simplicity of the polygons, I loved the jump to 3D, and it really got me much more invested in the game world & these characters that I've been attached to for a long time. Truly a classic.

TBH, the top three could almost be in any order, I liked them so much.

Um... SPLATOON! I love this game so much; it's not just my favorite game this year, it's tied for my favorite video game ever!

Super Mario Maker was also a nice game. I'm kinda out of it now, since I made a whole bunch when it first came out, but I'm sure I'll make more levels down the road.

Not really sure if this counts as a game, but I'm loving the Badge Arcade on the 3DS. My home screen is covered with Splatoon and MK8 badges... and I love it!

So yeah, not a bad year at all, at least for me it wasn't. Hope next year is just as good with the NX, whatever it is.

Exactly the same as me,word for word haha

I imagine Xenoblade will be up there but I'm not far enough into it yet.Donkey Kong TF I absolutely loved,Shovel Knight was fantastic and I'm really enjoying FAST Racing too but Splatoon is just one of the greatest games ever made.

As it hasn't been mentioned: Project Cars

Though I own several 2015 releases (PZ5, XCX, TLOZ:MM3D), I haven't gotten around to playing those. So making a favourites list doesn't make sense yet.

1) Bloodborne: The combat system is engaging and keeps you on the edge of your sit all the time, much more action oriented and fast paced than old Souls games. Art Direction, atmosphere, lore and graphics were superb. The Chalice dungeons, the NG+ and the different character builds kept me going back to it all the time. Now, the new DLC adds other 10 hours to the game. They took the best from Souls games and condensed it in a wonderful action/rpg.

2) Borderlands The Handsome collection: it is like Diablo and Destiny got a baby who then become an awesome stand-up comedian.... The guns RNG is one of the best I've ever seen and in coop it is probably the best shooter I've ever played. World map is huge and there is always tons of things to do.
3) The Witcher 3: simply put, a western RPG with the best story and characters ever. Trekking across the lands of Novigrad is a visual experience by itself. The side quests are not only "go there and get item A for me slaying monster B"..... you have to solve crimes, get involved in political plots, eventually work with the "dark sides" of society to proceed.... It is also a massively huge game, so "chapeau" to CD Project red for the quality of the production

4) Fallout 4: Bethesda at its best. Despite the aged engine, the open world is a pleasure to explore and I've never experience such sense of "freedom" in a videogame. The gunplay is also improved, and I love shooter rpgs.

5) Destiny the taken King: a glimpse on what DEstiny should have been from the beginning. I did every possible activity, but the fact that new things are still discovered and new timed activities arrives each month keep me still playing it with my clan. We still have great fun raiding after 3 months from the release. Few games gave me the same amount of hours played over price....

For pure 2015 releases it's easily Splatoon and Rocket League. I also finally got my hands on GTA5 this year (the long wait for the PC release) but I still enjoyed Splatoon more. That's not me saying that GTA5 wasn't great, that's just how much I enjoyed Splatoon.

Splatoon is pretty much my go-to game ever since it was released on launch day. That game is near perfect! It's genius.
I've not picked up many 2015 titles, so I can't really talk much about my favorite titles... I am enjoying Super Mario Maker, it looks like I'm going to enjoy Fast Racing Neo, and I'm still progressing in Pikmin 3, so maybe those titles will count?

God first.

@arnoldlayne83: I just got Taken King based on your endorsement. I loved Destiny (despite what some have said). Plus the Legendary Edition was on Sale for $29 on Amazon!

I have only played three 2015 releases so far: Batman Arkham Knight, Halo 5 and the Nathan Drake Collection (a re-release). Of those, I had fun with Batman but prefer Nathan Drake. Halo just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

(I will be getting Splatoon, Final Fantasy X remastered and Star Wars Battlefront for Christmas, however).

I also played Destiny this year which is one of my favorites of all time. It was just my kind of game.

Kind of hard to number them from favourite to least favourite, but I think my list would be this:

1 - Splatoon
2 - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (my absolute favourite game, but gave Splatoon top since this is a remake)
3 - FAST Racing NEO (Absolutely loving this game! Come on Nintendo, I want a new F-Zero soon!)
4 - Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
5 - Rocket League

There are a few more games I could add, but overall I didn't get a whole lot of new games this year.

Easily Bloodborne. This game is a masterpiece. Besides Bloodborne, I personally think 2015 was pretty mediocre.
If I had to do a top 5 it would be this though:
1) Bloodborne
2) Invisible Inc.
3) The Witcher 3
4) Majoras Mask 3D
5) Tales of Zestiria
I wasn't impressed by Destiny TTK, Syndicate or Splatoon (that map rotation ...) and have yet to play XCX.
Anyway, 2016 will be a fantastic year in terms of RPGs. Really looking forward to it.

Codename STEAM is the standout for me, and I'm just 14 hours in Xenoblade X, but it looks like it'll be a favourite already.

For me it's been Super Mario Maker and Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Most of the year I've spent catching up on my huge backlog and rediscovering old favorites, but at the end I was given two amazing titles from Nintendo.

Oh, if it's the top five games I PLAYED this year...

  • Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U)
  • Sacred 2 (PC)
  • Flatout 2 (PC)
  • Bayonetta 2 (Wii U)
  • Majesty 2 (PC)

My 3DS didn't see a lot of love this year, but that will change with Fire Emblem Fates.

Haven't played much released in 2015 but I'll try my best:

1. Space Giraffe (Xbox 360)
2. Super Mario Maker (WiiU)
3. Xenoblade Chronicles (WiiU)
4. Ninja Gaiden 3 (WiiU)
5. OlliOlli (WiiU eShop)
6. FAST Racing Neo (WiiU eShop)
7. Canvaleon (WiiU eShop)
8. Affordable Space Adventures (WiiU eShop)
9. Splatoon (WiiU)
10. Tetrobot & Co. (WiiU eShop)

yes Splatoon is lower than it should because I just can't stand the pressure of competitive online games.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

HappyCats

Ori & The Blind Forest is my game of the year. The game is gorgeous, and in my opinion it got the best OST of any game. There, I said it!

Gamer83

1. Rise of the Tomb Raider
2. Yakuza 5
3. Forza Motorsport 6
4. Mortal Kombat X
5. Resident Evil: Revelations 2

I had a hard time deciding which I like better between Rise of the Tomb Raider and Yakuza 5 but ended up going with Rise for its more refined gameplay and storytelling. I do love the mix of old and new school feel with Yakuza 5 though, the wait was long but I'm thrilled Sony saw fit to throw enough $ at Sega to make it worthwhile to port over to the Western territories.
