Topic: Is this a good deal on a ps3?

I just called Chumleighs and they said they had an ORIGINAL ps3 with ps1,2,and 3 compatibility and the whole 4 usb ports and what not used for $274. I was thinking this sounds ok, but really i was originally looking at a slim, not the oldest ps3 model, but then again, ive never owned either so i don't know if its a great deal or not. Anyway, its only 60gb, and the slim is 120gb, so im still thinking this isn't a great deal, but if anyone disagrees, id like to know.

Unless you intend to to use it for a lot of PS2 gaming I'd leave it and get the slim version.

I have the ps3 Phat which has a bigger processer than the slim i think correct me if im wrong. But the slim is better in so many ways.

Just out of curiosity, do you live anywhere near Peterborough or Kingston? I thought there was only 3 Chumleighs in existance, and they're all in southern Ontario.

I would recommend getting the 120 GB PS3 Slim. You'll get more space for just a few dollars more. I know I am.

Yep, I live about an hour and a half away in Peterborough.

Considering the 60GB version with backwards compatibility sells for about $350 and upwards, yes it was a good deal. If you want backwards compatibility or even if you change your mind and want to sell it to make a slight profit.

Slim..... Im fixing to have to upgrade my Phat 80 gig to a 500 gig because Im out of hard drive space already and Ive only had it a year.

A Slim for $26 more. I'm assuming you have a PS2...so why do you need more backward compatibility?

actually no i dont have a ps2, a hopeful ps3 would be my first sony console.

Nope there is no more backwards compatibilty on the slim, there is one usb port instead of 4 the buttons are push instead of touch to name a few.

o ye ye i know that i thought he meant there are less features in the slim and the current ps3 phat with the taken out ps2 compatibility not the oldest ps3 phat

well if you have a PS2 already(which has so many games compared to PS3) than get the Slim,but if you don't then getting a Slim will cost you the ability to play the awesome games on ps2

Well honestly, i think the ps3 slim being energy efficient is awesome. But I much rather my phat with all the extra features. Plus the Phat has a better processer so that means quicker loading times. So take that back i'd rather the phat. I guess for DaDun i suggest the slim because of it's 120 gig drive.

Alright thanks, im not really keen on going back and playing many ps2 games, i like buying/playing current gen more so ill go odd69's rout but thanks a lot to u 2 koto and others
