Topic: Is SEGA getting better or worse?

I guess Sega is doing rather good, even if the glorious days of the 90s won't come back. Sega made a reputation for taking huge risks, but that financial parachute they had in the 90s is gone, the market has changed and they are in no position to create trends nowdays.

Apparently they are sitting on a pot of gold with their franchises, but again, these games might be too risky to make at the moment. A Shenmue 3 would probably fail commercially, and remakes of arcade-style games such as Golden Axe or Comix Zone would make a profit only if released in downloadable format with an indie price-tag on them.

The list of things Sega could do with the resources they have is endless, but I wonder how many of these things would generate them money. My personal dream (beside Shenmue3) would be a partnership with Nintendo through which they would release their arcade exclusive games on the WiiU eShop - a sort of downloadable arcade machine that gets updated monthly. Nobody would spend 60$ on an arcade game nowdays, but if they could release them for less than 20$ each it could be viable.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I think Sega is actually doing better in one area in particular. They've finally managed to beat Nintendo at something for once. Of course I'm talking about their 3D classic remakes on 3ds. They did the right thing and built themselves a handy engine/emulator and now they've been pumping out 3d classics of games that don't entirely suck. Nintendo hasn't even released a full handfull of 3d classics yet, and some of them weren't even really classics to begin with. It's still really disappointing that we didn't get a zelda or mario 3d classic.

After playing the sonic lost world demo on the wii u I couldn't believe that they still couldn't get the controls right for a 3d sonic game. Then I tried it on the 3ds and it was actually playable. Maybe they just need to stick to 3ds.

Another thing about Sega is the difficulty is still at a worthwhile level. NIntendo each generation dumbs down everything more.

No problem with the 3D Sonic Controls they are just designed so you need to practice but once you get it then you have 100% control. (Same with All Stars Racing Transformed).

Also, just had an awesome idea. Get one of the new beat-em-up devs (Dragon's Crown or Scott Pilgrim vs. The World immediately comes to mind) and get them to make a new Golden Axe. That would be AWESOME.

Vanillaware would do an awesome job of that, the art style would be sick and since SEGA owns ATLUS now they could totally get them to publish that, ughhh now I'm dreaming. Don't wake me up!
