Seeing the Controller and PlayStation App for PS4, I feel like they are following WiiU's and Wii's controller.

And why do I get the feeling that PS4 will be praised by the news no matter what happens while at the same time Wii U's will still get hatred even when that PS App give the same thing?

Nintendo need to make more games so fanboys can stay off the internet.
You don't see other fanboy looking to bash the Wii U, because their console haz games~

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

@LordJumpMad
I'm never interested in buying consoles, just FYI. It's just isn't it pretty much so very alike of Wii U's and Wii's?

This is what is being said about PS App: Among new applications and services, Sony plans to release the PlayStation App, allowing PS4 owners to turn smartphones and tablets into a second screen to enhance gameplay.

The controller may very well have nothing to do with Nintendo. The move wasn't related to th Wii it wouldn't suprise me at all if this was unrelated too. The gamepad and the touchpad on the DualShock 4 will be used quite differently too so that further proof it's not a copy. This is the first time I've heard of that Playstation app, sounds like it's not going to be used much if you ask me and will be forgotten if you ask me. If the Wii comparison isn't about the Move though, I'm not sure what you are talking about there.

@Jaz007 Ah, okay! Although, it doesn't matter it won't be used much, it's still an infringement of copyright if it does do things like the Gamepad in Wii U. That's my two cents.

And I'm also aware of the double standard the news somehow has with Nintendo compared to other gaming companies.

I don't Nintendo can copyright things that far, You can't make a gamepad and slap PS or Xbox on it, but they will able to do similar things with it in gameplay without infringing on copyright. I wouldn't be suprised if Sony was inspired for the PS App. It might have taken more influence from Microsoft's smart class the Nintendo's gamepad though.

This is old news this is something you can already do on the PS3 & PSVita, also Sony was using motion control way before Nintendo. Doesn't copyright infringement apply Nintendo or something.

Well, in that case, there's a lot of copyright infringement going around, isn't it? I got to admit that I don't know about that though. So in that case, Nintendo is wrong too.

Or better yet, who cares? I don't care if one manufacturer takes an idea from another and alters it as long as I as a consumer get a good product and some great games.

I guess that's true... except if maybe you are the one who made it (or maybe got the idea?). People tend to get protective of what they made, that kind of view is okay, but can't we think about the one who made the idea originally and how it feels for him/her?

I don't think it really matters. Companies always copy from each other and improve the base product(hopefully) while doing so.

Somehow I feel older than my actual age. Why do people think it's okay for people to copy when it's on the console type of things... When if that happens for literature, or the games themselves, people get outraged?

There are reasons why there's copyright laws, right?

You make a great point. How's that Vita coming along by the way?

I make Pixel Art on occasion, and sometimes sell them as Game Assets.

we have no way of knowing how long various companies have had ideas being worked on in their research and development units. because of trends, many ideas may seem the same yet not be stolen. they are just all moving in the same direction.

A few questions then.

Should any controller besides Sony controllers have dual analog sticks?

Should any console maker have their own online service beside Sega?

Should the Kinect exist because we had the Sega Activator?

Should no console maker be able to use accelerometers in their controllers cause of Nintendo?

Copyright laws keep others from claiming your specific work as their own. They don't keep others from altering your idea, in the hopes of making it better (even if the goal is the same, any significant changes, make it a different product).

For example, Burger King can't make a burger & call it the "Bic Mac" (because that's infringing on McDonald's brand), but they can still operate a fast food burger operation (just because McDonald's was the first to use the business model, doesn't mean they have exclusive rights to it).

Likewise, Sony couldn't put a touch screen in the middle of their controller & call it a GamePad, but they aren't barred from using a touch screen in different ways (whether it be through a smartohone, tablet, or their own Vita), and it dosen't bar them from using similar technology, such as the touch pad, which operate differently.

My point is, this happens in all facets of business, not just gaming (James' Cameron's Avatar, for example, is a movie that follows a strikingly similar plot & structure to Disney's Pocahantas & Fern Gully, but does so from it's own perspective).

Oh snap its not like sony has made smartphones or tablets before the wii u was even concieved.

Its also not like Nintendo made the second screen stuff as Halo Reach which came out in 2010 had seond screen features and was the precursor to smartglass.
