How could this possibly be a bad idea? Sorry if you covered that already, but it was long and I mostly skimmed. Any ruling that gives the consumer the right to do what he wants with a product he legally owns is a step in the right direction.

What does this have to do with Nintendo's policy? I don't see how this would influence them at all. What they're doing is still perfectly legal and unaffected by this ruling.
