Q: What is it?
A: A japanese video game developer founded in the late 90s.

Q: Why should I care?
A: Because they made Nintendo pet project and cult classic(?) Electroplankton, along with nostalgia focused titles such as Theatrhythm, NES Remix, and the tragic commercial failure known as Retro Game Challenge.

Q: What is Electroplankton?
A: A bizarre and unique music creator device released on the DS, and mostly forgotten by those that didn't buy it. Despite mixed opinions and some flaws, is considered a worthwhile and fascinating tool for music creators.

Q: What is NES Remix?
A: You should know this but NES Remix are a pair of titles on Wii U's eShop that take Nintendo's own NES titles and has the player play a number of challenges based on these games in an almost Warioware-like fashion. Also includes strange Remix challenges that go beyond what appeared in the actual games. Very well liked, (mostly) considered a great example to re-invigorate old games.

Q: What is Theatrhythm?
A: A pair of 3DS rhythm games that take advantage of the strong musical library of the main Final Fantasy series while creatively recreating those games in other ways with a unique visual style.

Q: What is Retro Game Challenge?
A: A bizarre mix of pseudo-retro titles presented as a bizarre time travel story, based off of a video game show in Japan. Along with some of the most genuine (and at times fantastic) attempts to make old 8-bit titles, it notably included a Nintendo Power parody that had some help by actual gaming journalists. Tragically underperformed so that its sequels were not considered a logical choice for release outside of Japan.

From what I can tell, indieszero is one of the best retro-focused acts in the gaming industry and yet even compared to indie devs are rarely, if ever, talked about despite having a handful of notable titles under their belt (and this is ignoring most of their Japan-only work). This topic was made exclusively because I feel they deserve some level of recognition. It was kind of a sudden idea I had, but I've been interested in talking about actual people and companies who work on awesome things for some time now. Not sure if I'll do more of these or not.
