You put in a valiant effort, @Mr. Merd. Kudos to you. You were able to complete much more than many of us could.
I foresee what you'll do there.

Not sure why someone's blasting my genitals with cold water... I also look a lot more like a cat than I thought I did. Am I being rewarded or punished?
Thanks again guys - I think I'm gonna put another 26 hours (and no more, it's done at that point) into it after I get back from my upcoming 3-day vacation. I will DEFINITELY link everyone here as soon as it's done and playable. The combat system is really simple, but kinda awesome!
Next thing I'm doing is music - I'll post the soundtrack here once it's done - doing it NES style, per usual.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
Congrats Bro! You Inspired me to make a game (not in 24 hours though).

This is good work. What programming language did you use? , And how did you draw your sprites?,
I do a bit game programming as a hobby but what you have achieved in just 24hrs is pretty good..
Looking forward to playing this.

I used multimedia fusion developer 2 for the actual code / layout. I did most of my design with a combination of MSpaint for layout / mockups and googledocs for spreadsheets and docs. For my sprite design, I used the simple-but-nice sprite editor included with mmf2dev, which is basically MSPaint with zoom in, much better pallette / transparency control, and a nice animation timeline editor. I do all my music with modplug, and I tend to script sfx with it as well.

So I'm trying to figure out how to work on the game more without violating the whole "made in a day" thing...
I've come to the conclusion that I must be done in 47 hours, 59 minuets total. That way, it didn't QUITE take 2 days and I don't have to feel like so much of a liar.
So let's check some stats here:
Time spent organizing game: 34 minutes
Time spent working on game, game jam day - 21 hours, 56 minutes
SPENT SO FAR: 22 hours, 30 minutes
Time allocated for blogging / final writeup - 1 hour, 30 minutes
Total time I can spend before it officially count as 2 days - 47 hours, 59 minutes
Time I have remaining: 23 hours, 59 minutes.
How I see this going:
3 hours - music
59 minutes - sound effects
20 hours - finish graphics, AI, loop game together, test
SO - I will plan the next few days out as follows:
TODAY (Saturday, 9/7/2013) - all music / sound, 4ish hour day
TOMOROW (Sunday, 9/8/2013) - finish all graphics, touch up tilemap blemishes, make enemy animation not suck so bad - 8 hours
MONDAY (Monday, 9/9/2013) - finish game. Rest of AI / programming / linkage / testing - 10 hours
TUESDAY (Tuesday, 9/10/2013) - any remaining cleanup post-test, get blog done - 2 hours + 1.5 hours.
So - playable final game Tuesday? Does that sound fair?

^ lol yeah.. I spent 2 hours of that first 22 hour day making plans / organizing... Then spent the next 20 hours working on completely different stuff / not following my plan at all.
Gotta love project management. ....... /runs away
