This is awesome! The fastest I've ever made a game was in a week... I can't imagine doing it in a day! Like you said, I wouldn't be able to do art that was any sort of decent. Art is what's taking up the most time in the game I'm working on right now. I'm excited to see how this turns out!

OK - first full tile-mapped screen! My screen-by-screen / tile-loading code worked first try. First time in my life that's ever happened w/ anything!
Still VERY light on code - the only code in the game is handling the splash screen, loading / displaying tiles, and really simple animation / movement test for main char sprite. Getting there though... Assuming I get the enemy AI ideas right first pass, I could still hit this deadline!!

been up for 19 hours / been working for 12... getting to the point where I'm forgetting what I'm doing every 5 minutes. Got maybe 20 minutes of actual work done in the last 2 hours, despite staring at screen for 2 hours.
Overworld tiles are "done"
main character sprite is done.
2 of 8 enemies are halfway done
no bosses done
no AI logic functional or done
no music or sound yet
tilemap is about 1/8 designed.
10 hours to go.... About to start cutting corners
EDIT - eShop games require big-boy programming, which I have neither the skill to perform or the patience to learn. That said... if magic happens and clickteam releases an eShop exporter.......

I made a valiant effort... If I had a gun to my head, I'd say I made it about 60% of the way there.
*music - was way too tired to even start writing it
*sfx - same deal
*3 monster animations - 5 of my 8 monster types are done
*all 4 boss animations - tried, failed. Too burnt making graphics by the time I attempted this
*pretty much all enemy AI - the skeleton stuff works - they move properly - but none of the combat is functioning properly yet, so it's tough to really know how much is left there (since I can't really see bugs yet)
*shop / dialog system - I can display dialog boxes based on bumping into NPCs, but I don't have a menu system in place for the shop. Currently I just hack in weapons / equips via debug - they do properly affect stats though
*final dungeon - need to finish the Tower tileset and design it out. It's a simple 1-room arena-style affair - you fight 20 waves (15th is third boss, 20th is final boss) and shouldn't take too long, but it still needs to be done.
That's it really. 90% of map graphics, about 60% of hero/monster graphics are done. Entire map is done. Entire game is designed, and all data values are in the game / waiting for loops to utilize them.
That was the strongest 22 hours of work I've ever done in my life - probably by a factor of 5. Seriously - 16 more hours, and I will have basically invented a self-battling, no puzzles Zelda clone from scratch, solo. WOO!
I think I'm gonna put another half day into finishing the odds and ends so people can actually play it. Once I get the simple combat working, I think you'll be surprised how "oh crap, this is actually fun!" it is
THANKS FOR ENCOURAGEMENT EVERYONE! Seriously - there were 2 different points where I had a "what the hell am I doing, no one cares that I'm doing this, I'm making myself sick, I'm gonna quit..." moment, and random words of encouragement in this thread kept me going. Love ya'll

@SwerdMurd Hey we believe in you plus not many people I know that can program a game let alone almost a whole game in almost a day.
