I don't often admit when I'm wrong. It's this whole arrogance thing I have going on. (It's a long story, one for another time) Anyway, I argued for a good long time that the PSPgo system was a solid system and one worth investing in for fans of the PSP. Well, after careful consideration, not to mention some talks with people inside Sony and a few of my favorite third party publishers who told me their games were unlikely to see a release on the PSP Store due to licensing issues, I've decided to fold and sell off my PSPgo in order to purchase a PSP-3000 system.

I should have taken the hint when I attempted to sell off my entire PSP game collection in one lump sale only to have two different buyers back out at the last minute. Luckily I still have all of my games, something I'm quite thankful for and played a key role in my decision to go ahead and dump the PSPgo and move back to the 3000 model.

So to all those I steered in the wrong direction, I apologize and hope you did the smart thing and didn't listen to a word I said. I mean come on, you should know better by now. And to Sony, who released this PSPgo system knowing ahead of time that many games, some very popular ones, would not be able to be released digitally due to licensing issues, I give you this with all of my heart... ┌∩┐(0_0)┌∩┐

Oh and here is the system I invested in from Amazon. I wanted the white one and this is the only one available in the US. If the Assassin's Creed game sucks, I'll be dumping it on eBay as well. I'm relentless if anything.

What's that Corbie? I can't hear you!!!

Anyway, I thought the Go was WAY ahead of its time. Sony should have waited until the next gen to release an all-download system. It's one thing to go for all download but dropping the format for the current gen was their biggest mistake

I even talked to a bud who is a die-hard Sony fanboy and he absolutely hated the Go because it doesn't support UMD.

Objection

Saw this coming.

Way to be a man and admit it though. The Go will likely disappear within the year. (Ooh, a rhyme!)

My wife has decided to stick with the DSi. In truth, about the only PSP game she really likes is Lumines and that's one of the games I found out was not likely to be made available for download.

I was asking my buddy who manages a Gamestop (I know they are the devil but I get employee pricing on my stuff lol) last week how many GO systems they have sold since they became available. He thought for a few minutes then went in the back and said, "We've sold one. And it has came back as a trade in" (it's still there).

When gaming does go all digital, I really believe that it will die off if they don't learn from what Sony did wrong here (namely charging the same for a download as a physical copy) and do things differently. Downloads are fine for things like XBLA and the Nintendo Shop Channel but when it comes to dropping 40-70 bucks, most of us want something we can hold in our hands.

@corbie
Did you invest alot of money in your PsP go when you did have it ( downloadble games and movies)? I thought about purchasing one because it's size, but the price turned me off completely. I know the downloable games on the PS store are really high priced as well. I checked the PsP section and was considering Castlevania:The Dracula X Chronicles and 14.99 seems like a good deal.

Don't feel too bad Corbie. At least this wasn't as bad as your 3DO experience.

I wouldn't have thought that the PSP would have been around long enough for a significant number of decently well known games to have fallen into licensing oblivion (especially given the not so discount prices). That sucks. It's not like trying to break up a $5 per game sale of an NES game where 3+ different organizations/people can claim rights too or has become abandonware but not old enough to be public domain.

I'm was not interested in buying a GO, but thanks for giving us all a heads up on the situation. I'm sure it will be helpful for people who were maybe on the fence about it.

I wanted one, but there wasn't much incentive there to buy one. You get more out of a PSP 3000 for cheaper, which I'll probably end up getting. Sorry about your sorrows, Corbie.

@odd69 - I think the only games I bought for it in the time I had it were: LittleBigPlanet, Patapon 2, and Jak & Daxter. Maybe not having much time lately was a good thing.

I don't know if it's this way at every Wal Mart, but at my local store they haven't EVER put any PSPgo's out on shelves.

I know some retailers weren't carrying the system, but I can't remember which ones. The fact that Lumines and PopoloCrois were never likely to be made available for download ultimately pushed me into selling the PSPgo and going back to the 3000 model.
