What do you prefer the most? 2D or 3D? I like 3D the most, but that's because I'm more used to Zelda games being in 3D,and the world looks so much more alive when it's in 3D.
I hear its amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on hari-kiri rock!!! I NEED SCISSORS!!! 61!!!
As long as it's not a Zelda 2 type of 2D game, then I'm fine with either.

Definitely 2D. Ever since they went 3D, I believe the quality of the series has gone down. The 3D games are less visually appealing(besides WW), much easier, more linear, too empty, and overall just not as good. That's not to say I don't like the 3D ones, but I prefer my Zelda to stick to two dimensions.
I want the next Zelda to be 4-dimensional, effectively making it the first 4-dimensional game in history (well, history in the future, future in the present). We will finally know what Nintendo has been hiring those theoretical physicists for, turns out they were working on unlocking the secret to the fourth dimension, the barrier if you will. All in order to create the most epic game ever (which will be its tag line). The epicness will bring world peace and everyone will worship this Zelda game a la the Wyld Stallions of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Let it be known that I foretold the future!

Well, technically they are ALL 3D (Except Zelda 2), as Link moves in a three dimensional space. Only difference is the camera angle and the detail in graphics.
I like how we get a little of both with the DS and Wii.

I would die of giddiness if Nintendo made a console 2D Zelda game, NOT downloadable. They did it with Mario, so why not Link?
I agree with Reala, I'd like both, though I'd like a few more 2D ones before that. Though as long as it's good, I don't mind how many dimensions it has.
@Qwikman: That's one of my gripes with the 3D games, the combat really is lackluster and mindless. Though I hope Zelda wii will fix that. I also disagree with you on which games have a better presentation. Besides Wind Waker, the 3D games age much worse than the 2D ones. So I guess I'm kinda in the same boat as Odnetnin. As in, I'd prefer my 3D Zelda to not be realistic, a la Wind Waker.

Well, we all know the next Zelda game is gonna be in 3D, whatever form it might take. I also think (and actually I've just realised in my head how incredible this could be) Nintendo should release a follow up to Four Swords Adventure the rest alongside New Super Mario Bros. Wii. That way, everyone is happy.

Except all the 2D ones, which are 2D.
