The original 1981 Donkey Kong (the game that both Mario and Donkey Kong debuted in) was originally going to be a Popeye game. The Popeye game Nintendo actually released was nowhere near as successful as Donkey Kong. Do you think that Nintendo or even the Japanese game industry as a whole would be as big as it is in the real events?

I have no idea. Too many unknown variables. I loved Popeye, though. It's like that was one of the first licensed cartoon properties in a video game that I can recall.
