Topic: Heavy Rain, You Considering It?

I've grown more interested in Heavy Rain since the day I first heard about it (about a month ago). I wanted to know if there are others who are considering this game. It looks very different from what we're used to (which is awesome in my opinion).

Judge games by what they have and not what they could have had

Not really mainly because I don't have a PS3. It does look extremely interesting though, but the game will probably come off as "machinama that you have to press buttons to watch" more than an actual game.

Been interested in this game for years. The ONE screenshot the company gave up years ago was most anyone knew about this game. That was befor the PS3 launch. Im not buying day one because the abundance of game that I already own, but by the end of the year I will be buying. Hard to say it, but there are just Too Many Good Games coming out or just released. I cant keep up.

It looks like one of those interactive movies, more than a game. Don't get me wrong, it looks very interesting, but not very.... game-y.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

I'm sure I'll get it sometime this year but I'm not picking it up day 1.

looks good and presentation is great, but i miss gameplay, it's more like an interactive movie... no game for me, i need depth in gameplay

I'm getting it. Looks to be an evolution of the adventure game genre coupled with the best graphical presentation possible with today's technology. Sign me up--I'll have it the day it comes out.

I'm really hoping that I'll be able to pick it up when it comes out. I may have to pass on White Knight Chronicles for now so I can get Heavy Rain. There are just too many games that I want but not enough cash.

I'll get it. Indigo Prophecy was alright and HR looks much better.

From what I hear, it is very similar to Indigo Prophecy, which I just played a couple weeks ago
Indigo Prophecy was like a movie, you select a statement for your character to say when asked a question and stuff like that. The action parts consisted mostly of tapping two buttons alternatively and a simon says type of game. You had two sets of 4 directions (I played with a keyboard, but I assume it would use the two joysticks) for the Simon Says game thing. If you want to kind of see how that worked, just look up Indigo Prophecy. It will probably be the type of game where if you dig the story, you will love it, but if you don't like the story, you won't get much enjoyment out of it.
Although, the button pressing does get a little repetitive, but maybe they will mix things up a little more in this one. The story is what this type of game is all about, and I really wish I had PS3 right now because I absolutely loved Indigo Prophecy.

IGN released a video and written review of Heavy Rain:

I highly suggest you check it out if you're considering it or worried about it.

Your statment is VERY correct. Its not a very Gamey experience and isnt meant to be. If your looking to blow stuff up, this Aint your Game lol. ITs just that. A interactive movie/book, etc. This isnt a game for everyone as can be seen from the reviews Ive seen everywhere from a 7/10, 9.5/10, 5/5 and 10/10. Needless to say, Im signed up and Paid in Full as of a few hours ago.

Don't listen to him, you HAVE to buy this game, if only to support good story telling. If you don't like it, well, you can complain about how I told you to. But, why would you even listen to me? It would be pretty stupid if you did. Now go and buy this game!

@Ravage.... I wasnt trying to sway people away from the game at all. But the coment you quoted is the truth, your not shooting guns and all in the game, BUT after playing the demo, if you did it so take away from the whole vibe of the game. The demo is INCREDIBLE. And I did BUY THE FREAKING GAME TODAY

Oh.... Heavy Rain is now #20 Highest Rated Game on Metacritic, yeah its that good.
