The original "Rayman" game for the Playstation 1 is notorious for it's difficulty, so difficult that up to this day, it has been reported very few players have actually finished the game. This is mostly due to the requirements of the game, as you have to find all of the "Electoon" collectables in order to unlock the last world, and get all of the ones in the last world to reach the final boss. Have you done it? I know I certainly haven't!
I've gotten pretty far, but never beaten the entire game simply from not being determined enough to beat it. I love the series, but can't think of any game in the series I've actually completed 100%. I know I'm weird.

BACK MY PROJECT EVEN $1 HELPS!
Nope. I have it as a PS1 d/L on my PSP, and i'm stuck at being unable to unlock the final level. Every now and again i'll go back to it, but it's just not fun to play.
Nope, not even by a long shot.
Not only is this game extremely hard and unforgiving, i find it barely playable by todays standards.
Raymans walking speed alone is just a pain. also, i find that the pacing of its levels is a bit off. You have slow, long levels immediatly followed by a scrolling level or a "shmup" stage and back to a slow walk again.
Overall, not really a game i would reccomend. The "reboot" on the other hand (Origins) is one of the best games ive ever played and even gives a few of the mario titles a run for their money

YES!!!!!!! I have beaten the game and completed the game 100% and I will say that I absolutely love the game!!!!!!!! I played it on PC and I beated the game! Granted its hard, but I love it!!!!!!!!!
I have only played the first MS-DOS version. I think I might have finished it because games of its type were pretty rare on PC CDROM at the time.
(Dreamcast : Rayman 2 is the only Rayman Game I have ever really liked).
1 is too hard, 2 is great, 3 is garbage, but Origins and Legends are amazing.
I have bought Origins twice because I thought the Wii version might be rubbish but it is the game that is. I even finished the PC version thinking it might get better or there might be something there but there never was. No good in the whole game. (Even something like the Wii Sonic Unleashed has some good in it. Origins has none whatsoever).

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
I've beaten the game again this time in the rayman forever port. I never got frustrated by a lot and the only times I got frustrated were the last sections of the game which is fair enough seeing that it is the final part of the game.
I think the most challenging part of the game is finding the electoon cages because majority of them are very well hidden. Some can argue that the bosses are difficult but there are tricks that when done right can make the boss fights incredibly easy.
I will admit that the first time I played it, it got me frustrated and I lost all my continues before facing the final boss but after beating the game, I simply loved it and that's probably because it reminds me so much of Super Mario World where there's lots of hidden goodies and every extra thing you explore grants you a reward that's always satisfying. Same can be said for Rayman 2 infact out of all the platform games that I've played, Rayman 2 is one of the few platform games with well written story and now I can't play that game due to win 7......XD
Ubisoft if you can port this on Steam, I'll forgive you for not supporting Nintendo enough! just saying.

The classic Rayman games are already on GOG. One world, one price (I notice you live in India), DRM-free.
I know and I already got it from there but forever isn't exactly like the original as some of the songs were cut and I can't see Rayman gold's port as well.
I beat Rayman Advance, which lowers the difficulty by adding an extra hit point and eliminating knock-back from damage. It was tough, but once you've beaten the game you've pretty much mastered it.
This game is like the Super Meat Boy of the 90s. Yeah, it's that hard. The first world isn't bad, but anything beyond that and you're just asking for trouble. And this is coming from someone who considers himself well versed in platform games. Part of the reason is that the view is closely zoomed in. I bet if the camera was farther back the game would be a heck of a lot easier.
And yet I LOVE this game. Heck, this entire series is really quite fantastic. Too bad the last two games sold so poorly. I would love for there to be another full 3D Rayman game.
