So.... I'm not really an Xbox 360 guy but I have seen the reviews.

Who got it?
Love it?
Hate it?

A 9 out of 10 from both ign and gamespot? ODST is pretty much another Halo 3 but with Gears of War 2's 'Horde' mode.

an a different story mode, featuring ODSTs (like more "normal" soldiers), instead of Master Chief (a SPARTAN-II)

I pre-ordered it for my brother... didn't have enough time to go for the game and the free cap that comes with it yet...
will have to go either tomorrow, depending on how much free time I have from exams, or Firday...

I rented it today and am on the second flashback mission on Heroic. The noir-ish hub is a little annoying at times (took me a stupidly long time to find the very first place to go because the light was so small) and you'll definitely die or be closer to death a lot more than before.

Firefight is pretty cool though, but I think I made the right choice in renting. I'll blow through the campaign, play some Firefight and be done with it. If anyone wants to join me, my tag is JohnnyPanda.

Reviews like this further solidify the fact that IGN and Gamespot are not my kind of review outlets. I just do not see eye to eye on their scoring, period. Almost every game they review makes me eye-roll and chuckle. To be fair though, I played a bit of this game today and it's pretty nice. I think it looks considerably better than Halo 3 (normal) did when I saw it a couple years ago, although I wasn't side-by-siding or anything....but yeah, 60 dollar DLC on disc. It seemed to step up the overall-presentation a bit too...I don't recall the Halo story presentation style to be quite as immersive as it seemed when I saw the main campaign of this game.

I have serious, serious doubts that this would come close to a 9 in my as-of-yet-undefined review score criteria, though...

I got it for my brother and I thought that maybe this game would get me into HALO. None of us liked it and I could've gotten Brutal Legend instead To late now...

I hear its amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on hari-kiri rock!!! I NEED SCISSORS!!! 61!!!

Everything Ive seen about this game has really intrigued me. I loved Halo 2. Went midnight release party and took a week of vacation just for its release. I didnt like Halo 3 at all. ODST looks like a fresh change. Wish I still had 360 access but sadly I dont

It's been pretty great so far. I really should play it more often, but my brother always hogs the 360, and taking the controller away from him is like taking a steak from a lion.

yeah after playing more I feel my feelings are justified--it's a 20 dollar DLC pack given a disc release/60 dollar price tag. It'll be worth picking up if/when price drops. It's worth noting though, that as small of an addition as the new multiplayer mode is, it's a lot of fun! Kind of Halo 3-meets-Onslaught, sans the N64-esque graphics

Well, it comes with all the Halo 3 Multiplayer Map Packs, that are 800 Microsoft Points each ($10 each), plus a new Map Pack not available on LIVE (that would probably be $10 too), plus a new awesomely fun mode (Firefight Mode) and a new story mode, with enhanced graphics... that's worth the $60 price tag, do the math lol.

The biggest mistake Microsoft/Bungie did was saying at first that Halo 3 Recon was an expansion pack... that's all the outrage an BS cry about the price... it started as an expansion pack, but became an standalone game... heck, it has even MORE content than Halo 3 did!

That's a common mistake I've seen people make. If you don't like Halo in the first place, this probably won't change your mind.

That is what Im thinking. ODST sounds really cool and not playing as Mater Cheif really ups the ante in my opinion. By the time I got to Halo 3 and it was just more of the same I tired of it halfway thru single player campaign and was basically over the Multiplayer because we had the Beta. Halo 3 is nowhere near the upgrade that Uncharted is to Uncharted 2. Hell I dont think any game has ever had such a massive upgrade in a sequel.

I got it with my Xbox, didn't have the normal Halo 3. It's pretty fun. The campaign is mostly good, not as good as Call of Duty 4's but some really fun missions. Firefight's really fun with a friend, and the multiplayer in general is good. I'd say definitely worth it if you don't have Halo 3 already.

I think its fun. I didnt have all the maps before so it was a good purchase for me.
