From what I can tell, the government is thinking of making a game where you try to reduce the debt of the USA. My question; why? I personally don't get the logic of it all. Maybe it's because I'm not a politician-type, but why make a game about that? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

It's an attempt to raise awareness and educate the American population about a very serious problem America has. Games are a good medium to do that, since it reaches a broad demographic and won't feel as dry as political speeches and lectures.

If they are trying to get kids interested in the issue how about just getting something done in the style of the Schoolhouse Rock cartoons? Years later and I can still sing about what the function of a conjunction is.

Because the networks that would air them are too busy brainwashing kids into thinking they like live action shows, be they unfunny sitcoms about talentless pop music stars who will one day mean nothing to the entertainment industry, or about loud mouthed idiots who's entire shows revolve around pointless explosions.
A fun idea would be a FPS where you mow down baby factory welfare cheats, locked up kiddy diddlers being housed and fed on the taxpayers dime, and corrupt public officials. Lowering the deficit and making the world a better place!
"Put. That. Coffee. Down. Coffee's for closers only."
How about the US government tries to solve its own problems instead of pushing them on to their citizens through thinly-veiled schemes. This game wouldn't even be educational - well, except maybe to show kids how much debt they're in.
Here's the strategy guide for it 1) Reduce taxes which will give people more money to invest which creates more jobs and taxes that are brought in by the government. 2) Reduce spending such as Foreign Aid, the National Endowment for the Arts and pop culture causes such as "Global Warming". 3) Make it tougher to get SSI (Social Security benefits) by not counting things like Aspergers as a disability, cut out the child tax credit which gives unworking people $3,000 PER child in tax credits meaning they pay nothing in at all and still recieve a check for at least $3,000 during tax season

Hey, you there: Stop that. If you keep it up I'll have to respond against why I think that guide is wrong, which in turn will have you respond and the cycle will continue until we chase everyone away.
