Topic: Gears

Is anybody else stoked for tonight at midnight?

Played it, finished it, reviewed it, over it.

But seriously it's pretty darn good.

I'm not as hyped as I was for Gears 1 and 3 but as a big fan of the series I am looking forward to playing this one. Like with God of War: Ascension, reviews seem to indicate it's good, not great, which is what I'd expect from a late gen cash-in. As long as its quality is closer to Gears 3 than Gears 2 (easily my least favorite in the series) then I'll be happy. I've already accepted no Gears will ever top the original.

I don't own a 360, but if I was ever going to get one Gears of War would most likely be my top priority along with some indie games.

I haven't been following it surprisingly. I'm a major Gears of War fan but I probably won't be getting this for a while. To many other games that I want right now.

Before, I wasn't. But after seeing some of the things the game adds, particularly those in-game challenges that change scenarios with testimony elements, I may have to get it. I really liked all of the Gears of War games.

After reading some reviews (specifically Adam Sessler's), I'm just not interested just like its predecessors.

God of War is the same case. (No one knows how to make prequels.)

Unfortunately no midnight release here. I'm picking up my preorder after work today and I'll be playing through it with my buddy all week.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Skyward Sword were both fine XD So I guess some people do, a hit or miss thing. But I have to agree, to an extent, that companies/devs sometimes mess things up when they try to make a prequel/backstory when it never existed before

Agreed that Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep was awesome, as far as Judgement, now that I've had a chance to play it, I think it's a pretty damn good prequel as well. Not quite Gears 1 level but I'm still having a ton of fun and I know several people who have bought and really like God of War: Ascension. Sure, both games are complete cash-ins (been saying that since I heard about them) but they're well done cash-ins.

(ok sorry the simple title is kind of bothering me. Can anyone fix it to at least 'Gears of War series' or something??)

Anyway, i've played all the campaigns but I just went back to the first one to play some private mutliplayer against bots with my wife (like we have on 3 and Judgment) but I can't figure out how. I do not want to play online. For me, it takes the fun out of it when you are playing with a bunch of guys in a basement that have figured out all the cheap ways to kill someone...anyway, that's a rant for another time. haha.
Can you not just play against bots in the first one??? I'll never get to play those maps and stuff in this game if you have to play online (plus, if that's the case, I like the games alot but what in the world were they smoking when they decided to not let you just play multiplayer with the people in your house)

With the lack of response on this topic, I guess this isn't the place to ask much questions about Gears of War. haha. The PureXbox boards are quiet too though.

If anyone sees this, who wants to add me and play some survival this weekend?!

I always get excited for a new Gears game as it is the only video game my girlfriend will sit down and play with me.

This definitely doesn't' seem like the kind of game for my wife, but she actually really loves to play multiplayer with me (Local of course...I can't blame her).
Many a times with Gears 3, we set up some easy bots for me and her to tear to pieces however we choose.
And some of the same with Judgment (I miss killing locust in local multiplayer though) mixed with OverRun and whatever other modes.
