Which one would you recommend?
It needs to be strong enough to play all the new games including the announced Arkham Knight.

Honestly you would be better off with a desktop for gaming purposes. Laptops just can't compare to a desktop gaming wise. However the best gaming PC and laptop I have owned I got from iBUYPOWER.com.

You say game looks lame in one thread now you make a thread about wanting a PC that can run it? Multiple personality disorder?

Alienware is over priced though. Just paying for name. Of course I say don't buy a laptop. You can get a better desktop for the same price. Desktops are just better for gaming altogether though.

Ugh stay away from Alienware. I am not sure why everyone thinks Alienware is so great. Yeah years ago before Dell bought them out they were good now they are overpriced Dell's with a coat of Alienware paint thrown on. I had an Alienware laptop and it was the biggest piece of poo laptop I ever bought. I had so many problems with it and when I would call customer service to fix it all I got was the run around.

Heck I had the model that had the bad hinges on it and you could have googled it and see hundreds of people had the same problem with the hinges and Dell refused to admit there was a problem it took them six months later to acknowledge the problem and then do something about it.

Yeah if you are going to buy an Alienware you might as well give the money to some guy and have him kick you in the manparts then give it to Alienware, you probably will enjoy that alot better.

Damn, look at those sick graphics. No QWERTY keyboard might be a deal-breaker though.

@dumedum
That one you linked to looks pretty good. I'm a laptop gamer so I know a bit about what to suggest, though I'm by no means an expert. That one has better specs than mine in all areas, and mine can play basically any game I throw at it. I paid around $1000 for mine, it's an ASUS.

Desktops are of course better for gaming, especially if you build your own. But I need the portability of a laptop and it's much easier to hook up to my plasma TV. Laptop gaming is a perfectly viable option.

Never said the game was lame. I said that it's lame not to have a game pad. Looking at mouse and keyboard as alternative

Thanks you all. The thing about desktop is I'm not sure how to go on about building one, and buying one bundled seems not to be a good idea. I also need to buy a monitor. I used to be a PC gamer back in the 80's-90's though. I remember upgrading the computer every time and all that through a local shop.

Also keep in mind that if you want a laptop to play games on like Arkham Knight it probably will be cheaper and easier to buy either a PS4 or an Xbox One.

You're right, and I might do that... but I pretty much detest these consoles and their controllers. I played Asylum on PS3 and City on Wii U was much better.Price does not bother me so much. I think I'll enjoy the mouse and keyboard more. But on the other hand I'd enjoy it on TV better, so... It's too bad this dilemma even exists.

I don't know about the Xbox One but you can use a mouse and keyboard on the PS4. But yeah I get what you are coming from, as for on the TV you can hook up a desktop to a TV as well. Another choice for you for Desktops is Newegg.com they have some prebuilt ones at a good price. Keep your eyes out on sales too.

If you can deal with poor graphics, just buy a normal, but decent laptop. I can run most games with minimum graphics (although the framerate drops at times) on my Dell 3521. I DO NOT recommend my laptop for gaming though.

@Kodeen

Yeah, a controller is definitely the way to go for the Batman games. I love my 360 controller, except the "D-pad" can be somewhat of a pain when switching inventory items.

Well I got a few games on my old laptop that run well, but if you are wanting steam and all that stuff then it would be best to get a newer model laptop or desktop and to be able to use console controllers.

As of right now I got a portable gaming tablet haha, it may not have steam but I can play all sorts of games on it and I can use my Wii classic controller as well!

Another pro for getting a new PC instead of PS4/Xbone is that I'll be able to play The Stick of Truth.

Rather than make a new thread, I'll post this here and hope I get a decent response.

I currently have a desktop PC, that I would like to gear more toward gaming. I think I'm good except for my graphics card. Here are my specs:

12 GB DDR3 RAM

Intel Core i5-3470 CPU

Radeon HD 8570 GPU

What could I get to beef this up? I'm not looking for the best stuff out on the market, but just what will get the job done. Thanks!

@DanMan82 Could go dual cards and overclock it. Add an SSD if you want to really use it for gaming.
