Freeman is the protagonist from the Half-Life series, which is really very good. HL1 is still worth playing today, but it's a bit hokey and the graphics might be difficult for some to look past. No reason you can't dive right into HL2, though, which is worth every moment of your life that you spend playing it.
Truly an excellent game.
Link would get my vote between the two, but it's nice to see the guy he's up against at least represents a great series.

I really like the Half-Life series too. I'm really surprised he got in the top four against so many other well known gaming icons. I don't know who I want to win, they all are good candidates.
