I Don't Even consider PC is for gaming. My PC is just for Working purpose Only, Nothing Else, No PC games At All because i can play the console version for easy to play, No Install, No Worry about Save Data Loss, No Worry about Computer Trouble. If i SPLIT between Laptop for working and PS4 for gaming, That's my Choice. I Never consider PC is for gaming because I Never Like It.

Dude, who cares. You said PC gaming was about super ultra high specs and expensive rigs. All I said was that for me and a lot of others that's not the case. I was sitting with ~$1000AU burning a hole in my pocket ready to buy myself a new PC for reasons other than gaming. And I decided that I'd throw in a $250AU GPU into it so it could also be a gaming box that performs better than the PS4. Why a higher spec than the PS4? Well because at the time a "PS4 spec" GPU wasn't that much cheaper.

All I'm saying is that your personal views and your personal perceptions of PC gaming aren't necessarily true. They're broad generalisations and as such are probably not true for the vast majority of cases. A lot of PC gamers are if anything spending less money on hardware than they would have if they had gone for a console equivalent. For me that's my choice and frankly it makes far more sense for me to have gone about it that route. Because I'm spending less money and getting more for it.

And while I'm here on your other points. Data loss? I get that your super paranoid about digital distribution but not everyone is. No installs? What generation of console are you playing again? I assume it's not the PS4. Hardware failure? Well they're all machines, they can all break. For me the fact that I can troubleshoot a PC myself rather than having to send it in to Sony/Microsoft like I would a console is if anything a positive. Again, just because you personally feel this way doesn't mean you're right.

Lastly, on PC gamers being all about "4K gaming". These are the displays people are using for their gaming PCs based on Steam's hardware survey. Note also that 8 of the top 10 most popular graphics cards aren't really built to be running most games at more than 1080p. The other two are generally thought of as 1440p cards. So what you're saying is not really true:

For me.....
1. If it's on PC/XBOne/PS4 I'd prefer it on Switch as long as it can run "well enough" on Switch
2. If it's on Switch and runs "well enough" I'm happy with it just being on Switch
3. There is nothing on PS4/XBOne I wouldn't want to see on PC

I pretty much agree with this. Essentially I'd like to see every new title (and many an old title!) playable through a combination of PC and Switch. I love Playstation and Xbox - but with the main exception of a few exclusives on Sony's end, they are pretty much becoming identical to each other, and PC, in terms of library anyway.

I guess what I mostly had in mind for this thread was old games that could maybe do with PC rereleased. Sort of how PC finally got Bayonetta a few months ago.

@Buizel I mean, if your computer has a good CPU, most console games before last gen can be emulated.

I will consider emulation for games that aren't readily available today (e.g. something like Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Saturn!).

My issue with this is lack of reliability - some games/systems just aren't emulated well (running poorly on even a high-end PC), and I'm not sure I'd trust them to get me through the whole game!

@Anti-Matter Ok, that's cool. I gave my opinion that games are better versions generally on PC. I'm not here to play into some Nintendo fanboy stuff. If you insist on only one platform then really you are missing out. I have consoles and play them but PC is my by far my most played.

Edit: Also, I'm a huge RTS fan. Which is a genre console just doesn't do well.

I'll go ahead and be blasphemous. I'd like to see every game on PC. I adore the flexibility and customizability of the platform. I like that the only bar to me playing any given game is the processing power of my computer and how acceptable the performance of the game is to me. As a whole, strongly dislike exclusivity of any kind. If it can run it, it should run it. To focus on a few games though...

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - A PC port of this game would open up tons of potential. Simply being able to run the game at 60 FPS and increase draw distance would be great, among other possible tweaks. The potentials of modding would also be astounding. New enemy types, runes, custom shrines, and more could be added, and that's within the confines of the game's design itself. It would just be a way to add on to or explore more possibilities in an already incredible game. It'd also probably let more people have the opportunity to enjoy the game.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Again, the potential for more powerful hardware would allow for some of the oddities of the game to be reduced. Proper collision and better lighting could be implemented. Render distance for the environment and NPCs could be drastically increased. The main benefit would be that the game could pursue the expansion-based model it so clearly seems to be built for. I'd be shocked to learn that the game wasn't meant to receive expansions every year or so, featuring more story, quests, and new locations/continents to explore. PC would have given the game the lifetime necessary to create such an experience.

Metroid Prime Trilogy - I adore the Wii Pointer control scheme and wish I could use it in many FPS games, but I'd be interested to see how these games would play built around a traditional Mouse and Keyboard control scheme. It'd mainly just be fun to experience these games with that control scheme and without lock-on.

@Anti-Matter why the hell are you even commenting on a PC thread if your against it? You didnt even address the topic and you basically hijacked the thread.

@SomeBitTripFan It would be great to see all titles on PC simply for the modding community. Thanks to the flexibility the community has on PC with most titles it adds an immense amount of value to whatever you paid for a game. The Elder Scrolls became so much more thanks to mods and just look at the depth of ARMA 3 community and what they have done. Whole new standalone games are being spawned from ARMA mods such as DayZ and PUBG.

Let's see... I'm actually seeing games come back I never thought would be resurrected on PC (Ty the Tasmanian Tiger and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire come to mind) so what games would be nice on PC (and aren't Nintendo/Sony developed)

  • Spyro series, specifically the original trilogy
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane (Pretty likely IMO) and CTR
  • Basically everything from Atlus (Shin Megami Tensei / Persona, Etrian Oddyssey, Stella Glow)
  • Baten Kaitos Duology
  • Glover
  • Megaman Legends 1&2 (well... better releases anyways)
  • Resident Evil 2&3

The Sony exclusives but i can do without them, which is why the last console i bought before switch was PS2... but above all else RDR should have been on PC a year after it's release,i can't believe rockstar never released it.. just stupid on there part.

What i would really like to see is Nintendo do a switch/pc exclusive... it would actually be a very smart move... obviously keep Mario, etc switch exclusive.. but just do 1 game on PC.. and i mean something amazing, maybe a new IP... just having 1 incredible game on PC that loads up with the Nintendo logo would influence tons of people to buy switch after they get the itch to play more Nintendo games.

It's not really needed, a Nintendo device is often the first choice of PC gamers who want a secondary console to play on. Even the Wii U was expressed to be desirable (understandable from my perspective). The reason given is usually "for the exclusives."

Since I don't think Atlus games ever come close to PC, I think wanting Persona 5 in pc isn't exactly feasible...

Kind of hope that Kingdom Hearts game will appear though (especially when SE finally release the ultimate edition that combine all the games )

@shaneoh No, obviously it's not needed.. the switch is not a fail Wii U.. but it would be awesome if Nintendo tapped into that market just for a game here and there.

I'd be more inclined to game on PC if games were shipped on Blu-rays instead of DVDs (or serial codes in a case). I know it's a pipe dream, but...

@sillygostly You know when I gamed on console a lot more I was all about I have to have physical but since moving to mainly a PC gamer I have moved away from that thought. PC has bit different environment though as it isn't here's a new hardware release and the old platform is forgotten.

@RancidVomit86 : I'm grateful that I still have the original discs for The Sims and The Sims 2 as both games can be played without any major issues, are complete as-is and do not require any form of online activation/authentication. Unfortunately, Windows 7 is the last Windows OS to support them without any issues (and is also the last Windows OS worth a damn).

I wouldn't mind buying games digitally if only they could be backed up and reinstalled without online activation. The only DRM-free games on the market seem to be either really old or low budget indie titles which I have no interest in.

Download times is also an issue as a failed download can result in having to redownload a 20-50GB game, and that is not an appealling option, especially considering how poor Australia's internet is relative to other countries. It will also take time to install the game contained in that 20-50GB file, and I would much rather avoid the inconvenience, even if it is a temporary one. I experience enough grief with buggy video editing software taking 20-30 hours to render footage only to fail on me without explanation.

@sillygostly In case you didn't know gog.com is drm free and they guarantee their games to work on new OS's. Just a heads up if you were looking for digital with that option.
