I haven’t played it too recently, but a game that I regularly return to is whatever the current new Mariokart game is (in this case it’s 8). Popping it in and racing online is just so much fun, especially with DLC. The same goes with whatever the newest Animal Crossing is.

I've made it a ritual to make a full run of Ar Tonelico II at least once per year, so that one is probably my number on regular. Otherwise, I like to hook up my SNES for some PLOK from time to time, and I find myself occasionally returning to Lunar Knights (DS), MegaMan Battle Network 4 (GBA), and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages.
Pokemon. Any form of it. Pokemon is my "I'm bored of gaming so I'll play a game" game series.
Someone beat me to it, but for different reasons it seems. It seems I can't go a few months without missing Pokemon and restarting one of the older games.
I'll also regularly give Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Sonic Generations a run if I'm up for a quick game.
minecraft - not because of the updates (i actually dislike most of the recent updates), but it is so much fun to start a new world, explore it and build cool stuff
age of empires 2 - best realtime strategy game ever made.
rollercoaster tycoon 2 - i hope i still have hte save files on my old pc. the last park i made is only 1/6 finished but it is bigger and better than anything i have made before. i will try OpenRCT2 someday too
GTA san andreas - love the setting. sometimes i just drive around and listen to the awesome soundtrack.
tony hawk's (insert name here) - keep coming back to these games. the park editor in american wasteland is pretty good.
half life - still fun to play through it from time to time. remembers me how polished games could be many many years ago.
Splatoon - Sometimes I take a break from this game... but not for long!
Smash 4 - This game has a lot of things to do, so it never gets old.
MK8 - I love racing games, especially Mario Kart. Online is really fun, despite fire-hoppers. Luckily, without fire-hopping, I can still keep up and usually place high in races.
New Leaf - I love Animal Crossing; it only makes sense I keep coming back to it. It's what it was designed for!
Super Mario Sunshine - I find myself playing this game at least once a year. My favorite Mario game, so it only makes sense.
Sonic Unleashed - Like Sunshine, I play it at least once a year. It's my favorite video game, so of course I'll regularly play it!
Luigi's Mansion - LOVE this game! It stars my favorite Nintendo character, and is really fun to play through again and again.
Sonic Riders - My first Sonic game, and still love and play it often.
Sonic Heroes - I've beaten the story, but haven't gotten all A ranks yet. I still play this game regularly to make progress in it.
Mario Kart 1-4 'cause they're really addictive and timeless and stuff.
Puzzle Bobble 3 (Bust-a-Move '99 for PS1) and 4 for the above reasons. Space Bust-a-Move will do in a pinch. Also, Planet Puzzle League/Pokémon Puzzle Challenge.
Spyro the Dragon for its cool worlds and sound as well as that Kirby's Dream Land quality where it stays fun for a while despite being really short, simple, and easy. Typical as it was the first contemporary console game I played (only Atari 800 games before then).
Smash (WiiU & 3DS versions), MK8, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Wii Fit U, Gran Turismo 6, Initial D Extreme Stage (the PS3 version), GTAV, Mario 3D World, Harvest Moon ANB3D.
As for older I return to Mario Party 1-3 often, the 2 Mystical Ninja games on N64 and Battletanx 1 & Global Assault on N64.
As far as the Mega Man games go I regularly go back to those and have been since I first played them as a kid. Diablo III mostly this gen of course. There seems like something that I can always do in Diablo III.
