That's what's been showed so far, and will be available at launch, with more titles to come weekly, and sure to reach the thousands before 2011!

And since Game Room itself is free, and will more than likely work on pretty much all computers, no reason for everyone here not to grab it for some online Arcade madness (and while you are at it, you could grab Tinker too lol)

These games are all free? What do Atari and the other companies gain by supporting this then?

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

Questions: When will this be available and where can we get this? I really do want this, especially since it's free.

No, the games aren't free. They cost about 300 Microsoft points, I think.

But the Game Room is free.

the games aren't free, unless you visit a friend's Game Room and he owns them (or something like that was what I understood from the video presentation). They can visit your Game Room and play there too. You can get Game Room for free, and visit your friend's Game Room for free as well... there could be some free games either at launch or at some point in the future.

If you want to buy them, they will be either $0.49 for "renting", or between $2.99 and $4.99 to own.Price is up to the publishers to set (expect the most well-known games to be the more expensive ones).

It will be available this spring for both PC and Xbox 360, through Games for Windows LIVE and Xbox LIVE respectively

yes it is, the Games for Windows LIVE client (just like all the other Windows LIVE components) is free to install and use, and just like Tinker currently is, Game Room will be free to download, install and use.

Simply click the link and then click on Download, it's a relatively small and fast install.

Looks really cool as I like the old games and If somebody I know actually pays that for the games I play for free, but Im not paying $3 USD for an old arcade game. You can pick up Atari Classics for PSP for like $5 USD some places. Ill definately check it out though.

I wish Nintendo would do something like this with the Virtual Console arcade. By the time Microsoft game room has 1,000 titles the VCA will barely have 20 games.

@Tony: Only in Japan, they have about sixty titles now. Hopefully, it won't be that bad of an outcome.

Game Room is making me wish I knew what requirements I need for an Game Room other then Windows XP. I doubt it'll run Tinker well, so I'm not getting that.

I know and from what I understand Namco and Konami will be supporting the Microsoft gameroom well how about giving the North American VC some attention with arcade titles.

@Super Smash Bros. Fan1999
System Requirements haven't been revealed, but I doubt they will be that high... Avatars won't put much stress on your PC, neither will the games themselves... if you already downloaded the Games for Windows LIVE client try installing Tinker and see if it works, I bet Tinker needs a better PC than Game Room lol

@DarkG: My computer is probably patethic, Avatar will not run on my computer. I'll try Tinker tommorow. If it fails, then I'll pretend the Game Room never existed.

Avatar is a very demanding game, requiring dedicated graphics cards (DX9 and above), of course it won't run unless you have a decent PC...

Tinker on the other hand is quite lightweight and should run on most PCs that can install it lol.

So it's just like Crysis? I haven't played Avatar, just looked at the specs...

@DarkG: Wow, I installed Tinker and it actually works! Hopefully, I can get some from of debit card so I can start purchasing games I know that will work on my computer.

you can also buy prepaid Microsoft Points cards to purchase games on the Games for Windows LIVE marketplace... they come in 1600 and 4000 MSP amounts for $19.99 and $49.99 respectively if you are in the US... prepaid cards is a big plus for GFWL since other DD services on PC lack that option, and allow only purchases with credit or debit cards

I guess the leeching is about to begin...

As for the actual program itself, I don't get it. Many people who have PCs will probably ignore this once they learn of emulation. And how is someone supposed to get "BRAH!!! WE ARE TEH HARDCORE VG PLAYERZ, MAN!!!" people to give a %&*#@ about old arcade games that they'll automatically declare moronic? I just don't see how this is a good idea.
