Topic: From Robotnik to Eggman

I'd just wanted to ask about something that has been bugging me. Why don't people accept Dr. Robotnik being called Eggman?. I mean, it's been official for years. Not only that, but it's not even a name change. Instead of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, he's Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. It's like a preferred nickname. He can stil be called Robotnik. So why can't some people accept the old change?

Honestly the same can be said about Princess Peach. I never hear people refer to her as Princess Toadstool anymore (and actually as ruler of the mushroom kingdom Toadstool makes more sense then Peach).

Anyway its because that's what we grew up with here in the US. He was called Robotnik by us for years and I guess it's just habit.

In everyday conversation I call him Robotnik so that people don't mistakenly think I'm referring to John Lennon. Annoying when that happens.

Robotnik sounds Russian = evil.
The fun thing is that Robotnik is actually the Polish word for "worker".
When you consider that there's quite a bit of social criticism in Sonic.

Interesting answers (I had no idea that he's been called Eggman all his existence in Japan). I honestly thought that people just didn't accept modern Sonic things. Glad to see I was wrong! Thanks for the replies.
