For those who don't know, tweens are essentially, preteens and young adolescents ages 11-14 (basically middle school kids going through puberty) They're not really children anymore, but they don't have all the issues older adolescents face yet like drugs or partying. Contrary to belief, the tween audience isn't limited to the really bad live action shows pumped out by Nick & Disney. Cartoons like Adventure Time and Regular Show are aimed at tweens, Most shonen anime and manga are aimed at tweens, and even a lot of reality shows I would consider tween oriented.
So in terms of video games, what franchises would you consider tween games? Well, since MTV had a huge tween and teen following back in it's prime, Sega targeted tween and teen boys in a clever way with the Genisis. Several Nintendo games like Smash Bros., Kid Icarus, Zelda, and F-Zero I would consider tween-friendly games. And I'd even argue that most Tales of RPGs and most JRPGs in general are tween games.
I know CoD is suppose to be for an older crowd bit last time I played it was full of high pitch prepubescent voices taking about how they are going to do inappropriate things to people's mothers.
Other than that I would consider a lot of Nintendo franchises good for them even though from the very few conversations I have had with kids they all seem to have a dislike for Nintendo these days. I would think most platformers are good for this demographic.

well you can add every franchise that was intended to be mature
most tweens flock at anything they can use to prove to themselves and to their friends they're not kids anymore(it's funny because that's more childish than liking kiddy stuff)
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Any shooter that has online cause it's going to be filled with kids yelling, and i ask myself sometimes "You're yelling really loudly how can your parents not hear you?".
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed: Revelations & Watch Dogs 2
Most things in general are geared towards tweens, not just videogames or just certain types of video games. Smoking, Music, Alcohol (a lot more than you might think even if partying isn't an issue yet...why do you think they want to party in the first place?). The goal of every good capitalist is to get them young, and that's what everyone tries to do. Sure, some are much more transparent in their attempts (...CoD, Tobacco companies, Justin Bieber), but why EVER make something entirely inaccessible when that's just cutting out a HUGE part of your market?
"M" rated games SHOULD only be for adults, but with a little "You wanna be an adult doncha?!!!!1" Spread across TV and the internet, and all the sudden CoD is one of the biggest selling franchises in history.
Well, the Japanese handle a little differently though. Attack on Titan is a perfect example. Instead of your steroid-bursting, foul mouthed 30-something character you mind in American media, you get a little 12-year old boy murdering people (blood guts, and all) with no prior violent history because every adult in the history of the world before him is apparently an idiot who only trained this one kid (tween) to be a savior to humanity. Even though he has "no special traits..."...I'm sorry, I always go off on a rant about Attack on Titan...it's the most transparently Tween focus (based on the Japanese model) I've ever seen.

According to op im barely out of the tween age. But when I was in it all I played were most mario games old and new, same with sanic hegehodge.
Edit: I hated most kids my age.
At that age, I think I might've rented Mortal Kombat 3 (maybe it was even ULTIMATE MK3!) and probably played it for like 5 minutes.
I probably played like A Link to the Past, DKC2, Mega Man X and the Game Boy games, Super Mario Kart and frequently rented RPGs (since they weren't as common to find in stores and were more expensive) EarthBound, Chrono Trigger, FF2 (would've played FF3 but nobody around had it for rent), both SNES Lufias, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire II, Secret of the Stars. Yoshi's Island and Super Metroid as well.
Yes, you read that, I played much more Secret of the Stars than Mortal Kombat.
