With all the revived classics lately, what are your favorite "revived" games? Sonic Rush is a decent platformer, but unnecessary once you get the Classics Collection
This makes no sense...why even call it a revival if you are stating the older games are better?
Anyways the only one I can think of is Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Sonic Rush is a modern Sonic platformer, but redundant once you have the Classics Collection.
Also, they revived Outrun?
No, they just ported Outrun 2 again.
Also, The Classic Collection doesn't make Sonic Rush Redundant, and I'm not just saying that because it was an all-around awful port. WTF are you talking about?

Sonic Classics Collection is still a fun game. not the best ported game but still dose it job.
How else do you play Hyper Sonic on the go? still a blast to play.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I have to say my top revival game has to be GoldenEye. At first I was kinda skeptical about it but the did a good job of capturing the fun of the original while adding something new.
Second would have to be Punch Out!!. The only thing I didnt like about this one was it seemed more of a remake of the NES one rather than a sequel. The thing that saved it for me was the fact that the motion controls worked out a whole of a lot better than the NES version with the Power Glove. I just hope that the next one has a few more newer faces.

I assumed revival meant a revived franchise and not a port of the same old game. Which is why I questioned Star Fox's statement. Rush is a revival of 2D Sonic gameplay (more modern then Advance anyways).
I mean OutRun on the DD services...sure that's port itself but as a DD title with the fat cut from it the game holds up well as a pick up and play DD game.

No one mentioned Mega man 9 and 10? Wave boy you of all people should be ashamed. Bringing Mega man back to his 8-bit roots was the best revival In recent years. Brand new Nes games! Now hurry up with Mega man 11 already!

Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth: Great revival of the old-school Castlevania games. Donkey Kong Country Returns: Another really good one. Sin & Punishment 2: Mega huge improvement over the first one (but I really like the first one too).

In the case of Mega man 9 and 10 I honestly think I did like 9 better. The robot masters were more intersting and the music just flat out rocked in a cool 8-bit sorta way. It was the first classic Mega man in over 10 years. That made it extra awesome! Also the first appearance of a female robot master. When 10 came along it wasn't as shocking. I do think it did a few things better though. For one the robot masters had more varied attacks. On hard mode they even changed things up a bit for more challenge. The downloadable content was also better. I really like them both but 9 comes out on top.

Radiant Historia. It brings back that 32-bit JRPG feel (think Lunar, Grandia, Suikoden, Tales of Eternia) which I've missed ever since the genre became filled with angsty blockbuster popcorn flicks.
Sonic Rush wasn't really a revival, the Sonic series never went anywhere and there had been other 2D games released through-out the years. It was also trash.. the Sonic games have finally started to focus on good level design and platforming again, rather than "SPEEED!" but it's still a series that's being kept alive solely by the 14-16 year old furry fanbase on DeviantArt. (Though to be fair, I haven't played Colours on the Wii, which I hear is OK).
As for ones I did like..
Donkey Kong Country Returns was really amazing and I can't believe it's taken them so long to make a proper DK platformer again. It really brought back a lot of memories and was just a really solid game.
I also loved the Tales of Monkey Island.. 9 years waiting for a sequel and it was better than I could have ever hoped for.
I guess TOMI is awesome if it counts as a revival.
I wasn't aware that there'd been many 2D Sonics in the last decade. I thought it'd ended after Adventure was released.
You're not the only one, I'm afraid. Most people tend to forget about all the games released for the NGP and GBA, and even the DS ones. Hence why the series got so much flak. It stayed good on the portables.
Donkey Kong Country Returns - A follow-up worthy of the Donkey Kong Country moniker. It's so good, in fact, that it even tops the Super NES originals (in my honest opinion)!
Sonic Colors - It revived the good Sonic. I swear, every time I played it, it kept getting better.
Pilotwings Resort - Never played the first two, but it's nice to see the series back again. Who better to revive Pilotwings than Monster Games? Speaking of Monster...
Recent "Excite" games - Truck, Bots, and World Rally were a lot of fun to play. I hope to see ExciteBots 3DS!
