Unreal Tournament is a great game! It's a lot of fun, but it just doesn't have the depth to be the best FPS imo.

For singleplayer: FarCry 2/Modern Warfare 2
For multiplayer: Halo 1/Modern Warfare 2

Haven't really played FPS since Goldeneye (and a little bit of Perfect Dark, but that was so close to the end of the N64's lifespan, we never really did 20 person PD tourneys at parties).

Played a little of the first Halo, and I liked it alright. However, since I haven't really played much since then, my lack of skillz makes me feel there's no point in playing FPS anymore, since everyone else who plays them at all is so much better at them. (I'm like a retarded chimpanzee when it comes to dual analog controls, and nothing really seems good enough to warrant a purchase on Wii).

Favorite would have to go to Bioshock
Runners up are Black Hawk Down PC , Black , and Team Fortress 2

That's the worst FPS ever. IGN gave it a 0.7, the second to lowest score ever on their site (if that means anything). You were being sarcastic.... right?

Give me three or four (or more!) friends who've played UT as much as I have, and I don't need any depth. The best FPS games (IMNSHO) are the ones where you focus entirely on the multiplayer aspect. UT wins hands down in that regard.

I kinda like Shadowrun the most. But Half-Life is another good one too.

shadowrun was a great game with lots of ways to play its kinda sad it flopped.

Well, yeah. Microsoft releasing a game a few months before Halo 3 = major flop. But I really enjoy this game, it's really well balanced. I still don't get it why did they make Shadowrun into an FPS game. =/

I've been trying to decide but can't choose one for fear of neglecting the others. :/

Erm... I should say Half Life, I should say Unreal, I should say Turok, I should say PD... but instead, I'm going for....

I would have to say Metroid Prime is #1, and Halo 2 is #2 [lol].

Does Star Wars battlefront 2 count? You have the option of either 3rd or 1st person.

Well, Fallout 3 is a bit different from the rest of the series anyways, since it's the only FPS in the series as far as I know. The change in genre could be a huge plus for some(it is for me at least - I hate the combat in CRPGs, including Fallout 1/2, but I do love FPSes).

It's a shooter, but you can play in either 3rd or 1st person. If it doesn't count, whatever, because it;s only #3 on my list.
