Is it fine to say that freedom planet is a fangame? I know you have to pay to play the game but seeing that this is almost a Sonic clone and the fact that it was originally a sonic fangame, I just thought so.
In any case, Freedom Planet is a game that SEGA should observe and do the same for the Sonic games in future. A great game actually if you ask me.

Well, Freedom Planet did started as a Sonic fangame. I don't really see what so bad about calling it a fangame honestly.

Cause I remember a few stories behind them. I think one got screwed by Nintendo, one had its creator fake death by car accident... and none ever got finished. Or further than an early demo.
Legend of Zelda normally never have good luck with fangames. Most of them are either unfinished or crappy. Mario, Sonic, and Touhou are the only 3 series from the top of my head that have a good record of fangames even though most Sonic fangames are just Sonic World level packs.

MegaMan fangames have been doing well, though most of them tend to imitate the NES games which is probably why.

Ok look. I want to play this fan game called Sonic VS darkness. But when I played the demo and compared it to the other one, I was shocked at how drastically the versions were changed. I mean like I wanted the demo game not this all of a sudden different one! Like what the heck man! XD
I surprise I forgot about this thread existence and instead made a fangame threads on certain ones. Anyway, I digress, I found this randomly while searching for a Mega Man Legends cart. I slightly remember this project from some time ago, but that besides the point. There's a Mega Man Legends 3 fangame that looks rather good and haven't got much attention (mostly because Mother 4 and SATS was the only fan made sequel people was thinking about for a long time). Here's a vid. It kinda funny to talk about ML3 these days.
apparently there is already a Mother 5 in the works made a completely different team that are working on Mother 4. I honestly hate the name, I'm fine with Mother 4 name but calling it a fanmade sequel to another fan made sequel that is still work in progress really sound stupid to me. Maybe I should give it some more time, Mother 4 look like crap when it was first showed and was planned to have memes in it, but it slowly grew into something that more than that. http://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Games/Mother-5-5
