True. I remember hearing that there were a lot of problems during development of New Vegas, too.

Game was apparently an unplayable mess on consoles when it released. I know nothing about that because I've always picked up Bethesda games on the PC once they've gone on sale and modded them extensively to perform better.

I think I'll get FO4 on PS4 if it isn't a buggy mess, though. I really don't care to upgrade the video card on my 2011 rig.

Oh, it's still a buggy mess, even on PC...I don't do mods, but I had to edit one of the files just so the game would start. If Fallout 4 doesn't have too many unfixable gamebreaking bugs, then I'm totally buying it in a heartbeat, no doubt. Fallout 3 was one of my favorite games of all time until I was no longer able to play it...

I've actually never had any issues with any of the games beyond mild hiccups. Even New Vegas. Guess I've just had good luck.

Oh man, I am so hyped for this game. I'm glad that Fallout 4 is back on the East Coast. Fallout New Vegas just got old really quick IMO.

Funny how all the fallout teasers seem to be made with the in game engine unlike other companies games.

Looks nice. Im hoping the game world will be bigger overall than the previous games.

Also, less lol glitches this time around, or atleast something that's not as glitchy as new vegas,,,

Im sad that the guys from Obsidian arent doing this thou.

Fallout 3 was a great game but it wasnt a real Fallout game, it was a very good open world RPG with some lackluster writing but good enough foundations. New Vegas was the real deal thou, the writing was top-notch, the factions, the funny-style, etc...

No they're not.

I'm guessing from the fact that he goes on to say that he likes New Vegas and doesn't consider Fallout 3 a real entry in the series that he meant he's sad they AREN'T doing it.

Considering what he said to describe Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I'm more inclined to believe that he mixed the two up there. Seriously, New Vegas' writing was as dry and empty as the Nevada wastelands...

I'm inclined to think he didn't because he mentioned the factions. Factions play a much bigger role in New Vegas than in FO3, so he clearly knows what he's referring to.

I have no strong feelings on this subject either way. Both games had their strengths and weaknesses, and I enjoyed what both of them had to offer. I prefer FO3, but that's probably just because I played that one first. The first time I stepped outside of the vault into the open wasteland was both terrifying and liberating (keep in mind, I hadn't played a Bethesda game before). Nostalgia is a hard thing to shake,

Honestly, I played New Vegas for 7 hours, then went back to Fallout 3 (once I got it working) and Fallout 3 felt like a breath of fresh air compared to New Vegas - I can't think of anything New Vegas did better or even as well as it's predecessor...

A lot of people prefer New Vegas, and insist that it is a much better game. It does have a lot more content than FO3, if nothing else. I also like the emphasis on factions and the hardcore play mode.

NV tends to get more love from folks that played Fallout before 3. As it is made with ideas from Van Buren/Original Fallout 3 and has many of the same employees working on it. Let's face it Fallout 3 isn't really Fallout...its Oblivion with guns....STILL AWESOME THOUGH!!! I'd say my only real issue with 3 is the lore gets butchered a bit. I did start with 3 by the way...went back and played the others.

I'm slightly weary that character creation won't be returning..

Also, on the whole New Vegas vs Fallout 3 thing, I find that it all comes down to the atmosphere. I hate deserts and western themes, therefore I just couldn't get into New Vegas.

That is my reasoning behind my love for Fallout 3. NV was a great game, but the east coast and ruins of Washington DC was much more haunting and enjoyable to explore than a pretty watered down Vega Strip and the Mojave Desert. From what I can tell from the trailer we're going to get a mix of the two games. The bustling rebuilt society crawling back from the brink (within Downtown Boston and likely the areas immediately surrounding the city) and the empty, desolate country side with a handful of scattered communities (the Boston suburbs). No matter what the though, I'm still super excited!!! Anyone out there actually think F4 will be out this year???? (I want it to be sooooooo....but I don't want that disappointment either...)

New Vegas I think kinda felt more like the first two Fallouts. It makes sense that they were made by the same guys as the first. (Obsidian = Old Black Isle Devs) It had more humor and quirky characters/dialogue like the originals. Fallout 3 was great but did feel a bit more bland. NV had much more color to it both in setting and characters. I do think Fallout 3 while different in tone was still really good and was great for what it was. Still Fallout 4 looks set to be better than both. With Bethesda's dev team using an already more colorful/interesting setting I really can't wait.

I do admit Fallout 3 is more bleak & depressing the old Fallout games were a bit different. Yes the tone was kind of oppressive but it was more fun and filled with dark humor. Whereas 3 barely had any humor. So Vegas really felt like more of a continuation to me.
