Here you can talk about anything Metal Gear! There could be possible spoilers so this is your warning. Anything is talk-able in this thread from Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker all the way back to the NES hit Metal Gear.

First off I want to give credit to the users who did this before me WaveBoy, and shinesprite for their topics Metroid Prime Discussion: Everything Prime and Everything Contra!

Second, I want to say that Metal Gear Solid is one of, if not hands down, my favorite gaming series. Why? Because it's the only video game in history to have such a genius and well thought out storyline. The score is really good, and the way they draw you into the game is phenomenal. Really, I could go on and on about how much I love Solid Snake, and this series as a whole but I'll leave it up to you guys (and a little of me too of course).

Go nuts.

I like MGS but I feel as they go on they get weaker and weaker. The story in 2 was a mess. And it's overly japanese moments sometimes kill it for. But I love Snake and the over the top bosses, and the stealth gameplay. But MGS for the psx will always be my favorite.

Send me the best you've got. Send me your strongest machines. The fight my brother fought, here, now, will end with me.

Chrono_Cross

I agree. MGS1 was by the best in the franchise.

Peace Walker was my first MGS game when I bought my Green PSP. I never beat it, though, as I got stuck on the first boss mission with that APC-looking vehicle. How long would it take to beat the game? And is the storytelling in the series better than other series' like say, Final Fantasy?

MGS2 is the best. =P Raiden's story is amazing. I feel bad for all the people that didn't get it...

MGS4, Portable Ops, and Peace Walkers are awesome! I also love the soundtrack for the series. Heavens Divide and Snake Eater are great themes.

Also, I can't wait for Rising. Hope it uses Sony Move.

The only one in the series that I really played and beat was MGS. I did play the NES one years ago but I dont remember it much so I dont really count that one. I have to say though MGS is one of my favorite games the story was very well thought out and I there were so many memorable fights. My favorite was also the fight with Vulcan Raven in the Tank. I never did get aroung to playing the other 2 and the 4th one I cant cause I dont own a PS3.

Heres a little trivia on the subject, Did you know that David Hayter the guy plays Snake also wrote the screenplay of Xmen and X2?

So the majority of MGS fans? You part of the 1% that actually like that game best...and I feel bad for you.

Even though the plot in the series (MGS 2 and 4 in particular) is so overbearingly ludicrous, pretentious and badly written I've always liked the franchise. MGS1 is without a doubt the best. In my opinion, anyway.

Yup. You feel bad for me? No need, it's fun liking it when most people hate it, it's part of the brilliant joke.

EDIT: Ah, I found the link I was looking for! I agree with most of the stuff on that site, some things he goes a bit too far with bu still: http://www.deltaheadtranslation.com/MGS2/DOTM_TOC.htm

I got into the series like a month ago My brother has been playing it for years now and I finally decided to give it a chance. I've only played the first 2 Solid's and I love the series so far, though I can't decide which one I like best. The first half of MGS was stealth and I loved it, but after a while it just seemed like boss after boss after boss, which is fine I guess. MGS 2 was a little weird... okay a lot weird (storywise) but I still loved it. The plot twist after the credits was awesome. Hopefully my bro will let me borrow the 3rd one soon.

Also, if you haven't read hiimdaisy's comics for the Metal Gear Solid games, you NEED to, they are amazing.

I read the conclusion section of that link and now I want to beat the author with a blunt object until his head falls out of his a**.
