Topic: Do You Still Rock A PSP?

It's taken me a few years of playing my PSP to finally realize it's one of my favorite handhelds.
I admit I came late to the party, I somewhat despised it when it was on the market as a long time Game Boy player, but after the dedicated gaming handheld started to become an endangered species I opened up to it. Now it's in my pocket sometimes more than my 3DS, oh how I love a pocket friendly handheld!

Would love to hear what some people's favorite PSP games are as I've not played everything yet

I still have mine. Playing persona 1 and 2 and Taiko no tatsujin. I just got the av out cable so I will likely get more gameplay on it. I'm over handhelds at this point.

Taiko is good for the soul, Hoisa!

My psp sadly died some years ago.

It lives on in my vita, although that can't play my discs unfortunately.

Little Big Planet is one of my favorites, and since I got the digital version for free during that time stuff happened, I have it on my vita too. It isn't particularly good, but it's just a comforting game.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite was a very special game to me, since it was an extremely social experience during my early university days.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories is an awesome game that I got really cheap, one the few games I was capable of beating multiple times without losing interest.

Other great games I have/had include Final Fantasy 1 2 4 5 7 8 & 9, the Sega Genesis Collection, Hello Flowerz, Silent Hill 1 & 0, Harvest Moon Boy & Girl, Resident Evil 1 2 & 3, and probably others I can't remember right now.

My PSP seems to be broken. And I just got it Christmas 2015! All four of my games for it have Final Fantasy in the title. The first one, IV: The Complete Collection, Crisis Core, and Dissidia. The system broke before I tried Dissidia, unfortunately.

@NinChocolate It would be a really tough decision if I was asked to choose between the original DS and the PSP, as I think they are two of the best handheld/portable systems, ever!

Since we are taking about the PSP, I didn't have that many games for it, as I found it far too overwhelming to juggle between three or four platforms at the time (DS, PSP and the Wii, then an Xbox 360 a few years later).

I actually remember all the games I had for it, since I sold them to an appreciative and generous video games collector on Gumtree back in 2012, and I still have the very same listing(s) on my Gumtree account!

I had Burnout Legends, Daxter, Everybody's Golf (or Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee as it is known elsewhere), God of War: Chains of Olympus, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Jeanne D'Arc (I spent HOURS playing this!), LocoRoco, Lumines, Mega Man: Powered Up, Metal Gear Sold: Peace Walker, OutRun: Coast 2 Coast, Patapon, Ridge Racer, Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, Virtual Tennis: World Tour, WipEout Pure and, my favourite PSP game, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

I also remember winning a copy of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix upon entering a competition through the Birdhouse skateboarding store. It wasn't a bad game in all honesty!

Actually, that's 20 games there, which is more than I remember...

I had a great time with my PSP, and it continued to see fairly frequent releases from 2005 until Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker finally came out in 2010; I believe the latter game was the last one I purchased for it. I had five enjoyable years with my PSP, which I cannot say the same for either my 3DS or PS Vita, unfortunately.

Good times!

The PSP still looks modern and classy to this day:

Never owned one. Didn't like the UMDs or the uncomfortable analog stick. There were some games I wanted to play, though.

Thankfully, however much it lacked first party support, the Vita really came through on the hardware front, and I got to play some wonderful PSP games in addition to the full Vita library.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

Sort of a necro-bump. Sorry for that.

But lately I've been on a PSP kick. After the Vita released I set my PSPgo aside and forgot about it. However, with the recent rumors of the PS5 being released in a couple or few years, I was suddenly reminded that online support for the PS3 might finally be ending soon. And when that happens, support for the PSPgo will die along with it, since the PS3 is the only way to purchase digital PSP games and store backups of those games.

So I've been scrambling to experience those PSP games I've missed out on over the years, and I was quickly reminded why the PSP is my favorite portable (even over the DS, 3DS, or the Switch). It's the access to all those PS1 games I love so much. As an rpg fan, the PS1 catalog is deep with rpg games, thanks to the success of FFVII. Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, Breath of Fire IV, Front Mission 3, Parasite Eve, FFVII-FFIX, Suikoden I & II, etc.

The PSP catalog has its share of great rpg games as well. Hexzyz Force, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Persona 3 Portable, Z.H.P., Lunar: Silver Star Harmony, Legend of Heroes, Ys, etc.

Games that I'll never be able to play on a Nintendo platform. And for that reason, the PSP is awesome.

I just wish that Sony hadn't given up on portable gaming.

@Magician Feel free to repost your comment in this thread - https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/other_gaming/psp_fan_threa...

It's even older than this thread, but grumpy pantseel can't close down a fan thread, surely...

We need somewhere to keep the PSP fire burning.
