Well, it kinda does. Financially wise.

Not that I feel particularly strong about your education, but surely you know there's a difference between paying for a product and being a slave

Again, I don't have high expectations here so I'm not expecting to be surprised

If you don't think it's a good service, that's fine, it's your opinion.

Exactly.

and that doesn't make them slaves to Sony.

Well, it kinda does. Financially wise.

We choose to give money to Sony in exchange for a service. The same way I give money to my ISP for Internet access.
If you think that's slavery, you might want to educate yourself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery

It's not the same like your ISP example. You see, you paid for the console, you pay for the games, and you have to keep paying for the online service. If you stop paying for the online services, you lose certain games they gave you as incentive so you're metaphorically enslaved to that routine. That's why I said financially enslaved.

You pay for the games.. which tell you that you must have PS+. It's not a secret.

I know there's literally no reasoning with you about anything related to Sony, which must have done something horrible to you at some point in your life, but calling PS+ slavery is ridiculous even by your standards.

I think it describes well the scam nature of it in the beginning (that it was optional in the beginning then not). Also mentions that you lose the games when you opt out. Very good points, Thanks for that!!

Honestly its all up to the person really. I mean for me PS+ was worth it. Yeah you have to keep it active to keep your games but honestly if you bought it why wont you keep it active? I mean look at it this way. For about the price of one game, $50 you get two games a month for a year. Even if you don't play games online its a good deal.

Quite honestly this is why I don't post on this site much anymore. Unless you love Nintendo and are willing to bash the other consoles you get nowhere.

For how long? You never actually own the games ever? Think about that. Will you be paying them in 30 years? I guess they might offer some sort of "amnesty" at some point of PS6.

I don't disagree though. It is a matter of opinion just like I said.

I really have nothing against the other consoles. But I greatly appreciate free online instead of being forced to pay for one, that's all.

And then when you defend other consoles against outlandish statements, other Nintendo people jump up to the plate to label you a Sony/MS fanboy

Tis an interesting site indeed

Ok man, I'll just overlook your entire posting history and then I'll believe you

PSN = slavery really sounds like something a level-headed individual would say. As long as you believe yourself

The same can be said about Netflix. When you pay, you have access to thousands of TV shows and movies. Stop paying, no more access.
PS+ works in a similar fashion. We know that we don't actually own the free PS+ games. We know they'll disappear if we cancel our subscription. But that's exactly what the service is, a SUBSCRIPTION. If you like to play a lot of different games, a PS+ subscription is much cheaper than buying a bunch of $60 games. If you're the type of gamer who likes to play a game, finish it then never play it again, it's a good service. For those who like to keep their games forever, it's not a good service. It's not for everyone but those who subscribe tend to enjoy the service a lot.

You are right, it is exactly like Netflix. Except like I said you don't buy the $60 retail games for Netflix and paid $400 in advance.
It's a subscription service period. In here, they force you to subscribe to enjoy your initial product which you paid full price for. It's the combination nature of it that is problematic. If they just gave you a subscription like I said without the online penalty, there wouldn't be any problem.

Do you honestly ever own any games that you buy digitally? What if my 3DS breaks and I dont want to buy a new one can I call Nintendo and have them give me my money back for all my digital purchases?

I don't think that's comparable. If your 3DS breaks you can repair it, but as long as you have the console you have the games. Even if it's locked in your closet for 60 years.

What if I dont want to get it repaired? What if I don't want to keep it in my closet? Its the same thing my friend but you just dont want to see it that way.

You cannot sell digital games, so no that isn't how it would work. Your 3DS games would still be owned by you and when you get a new system you can sign in to your NNID and download them (possibly needing to call Nintendo to transfer your account)

PS +, if you stop paying you lose access to your digital games even if you still own the console. PS + games are more like rentals. Once you stop paying you lose them. If you buy all the games you are interested in when they launch then the free games part of PS + may not work for you, but you are still forced to pay (on PS4) if you want to play online. I think it might be smart to separate those features. PS Live =$20-$30 a year and you get to play online. PS + $50 and you get everything under PS Live plus the free games and discounts. (obviously it couldn't be called PS Live)

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Anyway I think the OP can get their answer and make a decision by now, so the mods probably can lock this thread since now it's turn into a Sony is the devil thread.

Not sure who you refer to, but I personally like Sony and don't think they're the devil. I even have a Sony TV which I'm a big fan of.
