The other thread got locked, I assume because he advertised his game or something, but we can still discuss it/give feedback..... right?
Anyway, I think it's awesome~ Making it Metroidvania was a great choice, even the music feels Metroidvania-ish. I haven't played too much yet (will play through it sometime during the weekend), but I have couple of comments already.
First of all I thought the character moved a bit too fast, was weird with those controls, but that's something I got used to, so really just an observation, not a complaint or anything. D: Secondly, I think your health/magic should be replenished when you get a maximum health/magic up item, but that's just me. (Yeah I died right after getting one of 'em, what's your point? D:) And lastly, what are those stick things hidden in the walls? They look like keys but I didn't play enough to encounter any locked doors, so I didn't get to check.
Anyway, great game, keep it up! =D
I have a Backloggery now! Nothin' fancy, but feel free to add me as a friend. [21:15] Axoloth joined the conversation [21:16] Axoloth: I love you, dead chat [21:17] dead chat runs away [21:17] dead chat has left the convers...
Yup no idea why the last one got locked...hopefully this doesn't incite the wrath of the shielded ones!
I mean fight the power
But yeah--the quick movement is intentional. The game is designed to be super-ninja once you get the hang of the controls...which are admittedly pretty difficult since I tend to play arcade games 3-button style in that configuration with a keyboard. I know I'm an oddball, but it's what was comfortable for me. Joystick support will be in the final version for sure--just have to figure out how to reference the joystick object given the hole I programmed myself into
If my Mac (I hate this piece of ****) worked like a real computer, I'd still be able to use my screen cap program and I'd make a youtube video of the game mechanics being adequately ninja-ed...sadly I have no such resources because Steve Jobs fathers children with Satan on a daily basis.
And yes--the "stick looking things" are keys. You're making me want to go redesign that graphic You attack doors/chests to use a key and open them--some doors take 2 or even 3 keys. There's actually a little spinning question mark thing near the first door that explains how they work--you were probably pretty close to it when you died.
I didn't think about replenishing health/magic when the respective pickups are found....that's the world's easiest fix. I'll probably still leave it as-is on hard mode, though...It's gonna be brutal
Thanks for playing/the feedback man.
And sorry Nintendo Life...wasn't trying to break any rules--just wanted to give some gamers some free enjoyment for a few minutes.
