I always enjoyed Dead Space for being a suspenseful shooter since it isn't really that scary. As it is basically RE4 in space, that fits pretty well for me.
That was my take of Dead Space as well. Unfortunately, it still wanted to be a horror game, so threw in tons of jump-scares, which got annoying for me after a while.
