Valve has filed a trademark application for Half-Life 3, leading to hopes that the long-awaited sequel may be a reality.
The news comes via a listing by the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, which is the EU’s trademark and designs registry.
According to Polygon, the application was actually filed on behalf of Valve by a patent and trademark firm called Casalonga & Associés.
The trademark covers "computer game software," "downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices", as well as other goods and services.
In the U.S, meanwhile, there is no equivalent record at the Patent and Trademark Office. Valve is also yet to publicly comment on the discovery.
Bored by all the dull trademark talk? Don’t be. It means that after a near six year wait, the Most Anticipated Game Ever may be about to go public. Maybe.
Here hoping but i'm not going to get my hopes up, how about you?
It was just one of the many sections of HL 2. Just the part where you were in Ravenholm. And that wasn't exactly horror that much, but rather an FPS with dark alleys and zombies.
Not technically Zombies... Ravenholm was a darker part of the game but certainly not a 'horror' section.
Personally I think it is just Valve protecting their product against the rising number of spam and troll attempts at promoting the third game. I would love a third game but the protection sounds like the more sensible approach

I see where your coming from but the new steam box will need a exclusive launch title to entice buyers.
Let's be honest- Half Life 3 has been inevitable since Half Life 2. I wonder if the trademark application announcement was revealed after the less than stellar Steam Box/OS/Controller unveiling by Valve? And the question is: will Valve continue to support other consoles with their flagship title when they have their own in the marketplace? Will there be a time exclusivity to its release on the PC/Steam Box?
I don't know, just playing Devil's Advocate!
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
I want to see new IP's from Valve. Sure, Half-Life 2 and its expansions were magnifecent, but they weren't as revolutionairy as Portal and Half Life 1 were.
I can wait for HL3. After all, I'm still working through HL2.
Speaking of Ravenholm, I'm in that part of the game right now. Just check my backloggery if you don't believe me

How are they not Zombies?
This is the wikipedia definition for example: Zombies are fictional undead creatures regularly encountered in horror and fantasy themed works. They are typically depicted as mindless, reanimated corpses

Zombies are dead creatures that are reanimated. These are humans controlled by headcrabs so they aren't actually dead to start with. It's a thin line but the line is there.
Also the fiction line may be true but the zombi ideal came from reality.

It was horrifying to me, and it ruined a potentially great game. It's the Shadow Temple of the FPS world, and that entire section needs to burn in hell. Hell, the majority of Half-Life 1 was horrifying, too. I'm staying away from those games as long as they insist on being so damn scary. It's not like it's hard to not be scary, no other FPS I've played goes out of their way to be scary out of the blue, conflicting with the entirety of the rest of the game. I'm hoping for the best, here...

The question is are people bothered if HL3 releases or not, some will be but i'm betting the majority won't.
