Do you need convincing? The pricedrop and Slim convinced me enough. Do you intend to buy an HDTV at all (or have one already)?

Yes I need convincing (I would buy one, but so many Wii Games coming out, so I unless you can convince me I'm not getting one. As for HD I am thinking about getting one.

PS3 has blu-ray playback. Yes, it takes a while to load. Yes, they're a bit expensive. Yes, they're undoubtedly the most amazing movie-viewing experience you can have in your own home.

PS3 has really good games, many of which are 30 bucks or less. PS3 has access to downloadable PS1 titles (5.99 apiece for single-disc, 9.99 for multi-disc and special releases) and a great spread of downloadable games on the playstation network, which is free.

PS3 allows you to rent HD movies akin to a Cable Box, but in 1080p instead of 1080i--it also has an iTunes-y video store.

PS3 plays PS1 games (I know PS2 does as well, but PS3 has the virtual memory card utility and no blue-screens between loads like used to occur (plus HDMI connection can't hurt things!)

PS3 streams media from nearby devices with almost no setup by the user.

PS3 utilizes bluetooth earpieces for online voice chat (and it's superb and the voice changer is fun :) )

I'm sure it's all been said before, but it's such a great system. If I felt the need to look through topics, I could probably find the links to the guy on youtube that tells us how awesome owning a PS3 is. The 360s no slouch either, but right now with the Slim announcement and the like, it's a good time to join the ranks of the momentum-gaining PS3ers. I have quite a few people from NL on my list (despite not owning many of the same games as others, and thusly not yet playing online with any of them).

No Wii U yet.... Not enough first party wow titles to pull me in yet... And Nintendo's got a ways to go to repair the damage done during the Wii generation.

Do I need to say anything? I'm planning to get one by Christmas.

For those who want Mega Man in Super Smash Bros. 4, check out this thread:
Lots of goods things await.

Currently in construction, but there are some neat things to look at.

Can I convince you not to buy one, or is that not allowed? :P

EDIT: A moment of genius follows this post.....

you should buy one because.....
it starts with the letter "P", the 16 letter in the English alphabet. "P" (the 16 letter of the English alphabet of course) makes the sound "puh" when spoken such as in the word "parade." Some people do not think that the 16th letter in the English alphabet is all that important but they are WRONG! Without "P" there would be no pizza, parks, platypus, pterydactyls, penguins, pens, pencils, pie and people and the list goes on and on.

Its middle letter of the abbreviation is the letter "S" [Goes on and on about how important "S" is]

3- magic number. There go buy a ps3
I could also convince you to get a nintendo wii too because guess what? yeah it starts with "W"! Don't get me started on the English letter "W". double YOUUUUU
Sorry i was bored :)

Alright since Sweet_Murd gave you much of the features of the PS3 I'll go ahead and provide you some games you want to try out if, you buy a PS3.

  • Little Big Planet: A creative platformer that's sole purpose is aimed at user generated content.
  • Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patroits: Quite frankly one of the best third person shooters I've played, it's also a automatic play if you are a fan of the Metal Gear Solid Franchise.
  • Infamous: A sandbox type game where you control a guy name Cole, who has gained the ability of electric attacks to save the city he lives in.
  • Resistance Fall Of Man: The game has a similar campaign mode like Halo imo but, it also has pretty decent multiplayer from what I've heard.
  • Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection: This game houses over 40 different classic Sega genesis, Master System, and Sega Arcade games. Also it will save you a bundle over the Virtual Console counterparts on the Wii since they are $8 a piece.

I don't know....Sony is losing 3rd party support so I don't think it would be worth it. Maybe Sony will pull a miracle and get a lot of support

Yes but mostly because they wouldn't cut the price, but now they cut the price so if the PS3 sells very well, then Activision will be happy.

I think a ps3 would only be enjoyable if you have an HDTV, which I don't. Otherwise, I might get one.

I heard the story is only understandable for people who played all the previous MGS games, if you haven't you should go back and start with those before even getting close to MGS4.
