Is a Playstation 3 worth buying?
If it is,I would like to buy a model that has PS1 and PS2 backwards compitability.
P.S.I know AlexSays and Adam will be all over this.

It's worth buying if you like the sort of games that are on it. Personally I would recommend getting a 360 myself if you don't already have one as an alternative to the Wii.

@Dazza-I already have a Xbox 360. I think the Xbox 360 has a better libary of games then the PS3,so I have my doubts about buying a PS3.

I've posted huge lists of good PS3 games constantly, so I won't bother to do it again. I'm sure you've read at least one of those rants before. But if you have any particular questions about the system or its games, I'll be glad to help out. It's a hugely underrated system and gets a lot of flak just because it had a bad launch (which it very much did), but it's long since caught up with the competition and I enjoy it as much as my Wii.

id wait 4 eith bestbuys deal where u get mgs4 and killzone 2 plus a ps3 4 400$ or wait 4 the slim its rumord to come out thiss fall but it probably wont untill xmas

If you already have an xbox 360 you should get this if you want another system. The sports games are much better but alot of other games just weren't fun. The resistance weren't fun and metal gear solid 4 multiplayer sucked. Killzone 2 just looks good but has hard controlls. My ps3 bluray drive broke while playing metal gear solid 4 so now I can only play downloadable games which sucks but I would still suggest getting one.

I love Metal Gear Online. Especially the sneaking modes. It's like military hide and seek!

Also, is your PS3 still in warranty, Castle Hominid? I've heard they're pretty good and quick about fixing systems. Never had any problems myself, though.

@SuperSonic...... Sony just released that they recently found a way to play the Playstation 2 games through whats already included in every PS3. (They removed the emotion emulator for price reasons) SO PS3 fans can look foreward to being able to play PS2 games on their PS3 in the future. AND Uncharted itself is worth the price of admission on the PS3. X360 is really the goto system for FPS but PS3 is the better system in 3rd person action with Ucharted 1 and 2, Ratchet 2 games etc. And the Motorstorm series is phenominal as well as Little Big Planet (wich feels like it should be a Nintendo game). I also like the trophy system better than the Xbox achievment system myself. AND lots of us on here have PS3s. NOt to mention Sony recently confirmed that the PS3 is indeed only in the beginning stages of its lifespan. They have just started to tap into how to produce games on the system with its insanely powerful cell processor wich means you will get around 6-8 more years of new gaming out of you 400 bucks spent on the system. I have 2 and dont regret it a bit. I will never buy another XBOX or Microsoft system. I bored of the FPS games pretty quickly.

No got it the day it came out. It crashed in November so my year warranty is up and I would have to pay $150+ to fix it.

I hated drakes fortune and the ratchet and clank games. The only good exclusives are MGS4, Little big planet, and the mlb the shows. Achievements are much better than trophies with G you can actually see their achievements without looking at their profile. There are also a lot more people on xbox live. No game has as good multiplayer gameplay as Halo 3 and gears of war is mad fun.The only advantage of playstation network is that it is free but 50 dollars for a year isn't that much. Just don't get one extra game that year. and you don't need an extra game with all of the hundreds of hours of online gameplay with games like halo 3

Warhawk's more fun than any 360 multi-player game I've played, though granted I haven't played many beyond Halo and Gears.

If you add in the price of an Xbox subscription, I'd have paid more for the 360 by now than I did for the PS3. I don't see how anyone could say $50 a year "isn't that much." I guess you have a much better job than I do.

I'm tempted to get a PS3 later this year purely for the Bluray player. God of War 3 might just seal the deal for me!

If they release a god of war III bundle I will get it. Especially if it is blood red or something.

Ok,I'm considering it,but I have a few questions.
1.Which models support PS2 and PS1 games and which ones do not?

2.How is the update going to make the Playstation 3 backwards compitable again?

3.Are they are any good PS3 exclusive RPGs ?

4.Is Heavenly Sword any good?

5.I heard there was a glitch,where you cannot get past the beginning
of Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories on a PS3. Will this glitch ever be fixed?

I don't know the answers to most of those, but my MGS4-bundled PS3 is backwards compatible.

Heavenly Sword was pretty boring to me, but I don't like that kind of game. I don't even play God of War.

FFXIII Versus and FFXIV are supposed to be PS3-exclusive. Of course, FFXIII was supposed to be PS3-exclusive, too, so take that with a grain of salt.

White Knight Chronicles will be PS3-exclusive. Disgaea 3 is supposed to be good, too, though despite having bought it over a week ago, I haven't started playing it yet.

That reminds me... I'm going play it. I'll get back to you if it's good.

Don't forget about Valkyria Chronicles for PS3! It is a really awesome RPG and a PS3 exclusive! Very highly recommended!

I have only watched the beginning and played the first tutorial so far, but I'm already loving it. This game is crazy!
