Topic: Considering a PSPgo

I have had a DSi since April 10, and I am really disappointed with the features and hardware. I have been considering a PSP for a while now, mostly PSPgo. My birthday is on November 5th, and the PSPgo is released on October 1st. I really want to think about this before I buy it, because the DSi was basically an impulse buy. Opinions?

Are you disappointed with DS software? Or did you have a DS/Lite from earlier?

It's really up to you. If you don't mind not having physical media and like portable on the go gaming, and if the games on the PSP and Mini's appeal to you, and price isn't a factor, I'd say go for it.

I got my DS phat back in 2005, I loved it. But what I am looking for now is mostly a multimedia device, and the DSi just doesn't really suit my needs. I don't think the price will be much of a problem. I love the games the DS has to offer, but what i'm looking for is different. think I will get a PSPgo and have my DSi for games that I love.

I would say a really excellent multimedia device is the iPod Touch. But of course if you like the PSPs game library go for it.

I already had an iPod touch, but it broke.

I consider myself an intermediate gamer. I like casual games just for the fun of it, and I also like playing hardcore games.

Get the PSPgo. My ipod Touch is collecting dust at the moment.

Plain old gamer :)

I plan to get a PS3slim and PSPgo on the same day- sometime next month. That being said, I have to complain about the PSPgo- no second analog, and no touch screen. I'm bothered that they took the perfect spot for a second analog and slapped on start/select buttons. With FPS or twin-stick shooter games in mind, the lack of a second analog is the equivalent of forcing a gamer to play the Metroid Prime Trilogy with nunchuk only (no ability to aim). I still plan to throw Sony my money next month, so whatever. I can complain.

I'll tell you why I never considered the PSPgo when I was deciding what portable gaming device to get. You cannot buy used titles for less, you can't rent titles to try before buying, you cannot trade titles you own and finished for ones you don't own and haven't tried. As far as I can tell, everything is downloadable, which means you'll never see deeply discounted prices on older titles. For me, that was the dealbreaker.

If you want multimedia, get a netbook, or go with the iPOD touch IMO.

I totally agree. Don't get a Go.

Why can't Metroid crawl?

Not much point in considering a 1000 or 2000 if you've never experienced what the differences would be.

At least this way you're somewhat familiar with what you're getting.

I think that's a better option then the PSP Go in my opinion, since I bought my IPOD Touch months ago my PSP has been seeing less and less use because of all the music I burned on to it. The ability to watch podcasts along with the decent webrowsing through the Safari Browser make it the better option then a PSP Go imo, however if you feel the games on the DS aren't cutting it for you then by all means get a PSP.

Problem solved. I ordered a new iPod touch (3g).
