I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good PC gamepads. I mostly play 2d indie platformers like BIT.TRIP RUNNER, Super Meat Boy, Cave Story+, VVVVVV, etc. but I also have Batman: Arkham Asylum and Transformers: War for Cybertron.

I'm looking for an affordable ($20-30 would be nice, but nothing above $40) gamepad that is wireless, preferably, and would work for the types of games I'm talking about. If you need to see my full collection, look here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/bittrip/games?tab=all

Thanks for your help.

Isn't there a way to link a sixaxis controller to your PC yet? I usually bust out my old Playstation controllers whenever there's a game i need it for on my computer, lol — you can get controller-to-USB connectors on the internet.

The wired xbox 360 controller should work.

most games on steam that are gamepad compatible are optimized for use with an xbox 360 controller, you could either get a wired one, or a wireless USB adaptor, amazon is a good place to look

I use a Logitech Dual Action gamepad, but I have to find files online to get it to work with newer games like WFC and Arkham. Getting a wired 360 pad is the best option.

http://xpadder.com/ If you have a PS2/Xbox/Gamecube controller download this and a driver depending on what controller you have.

You mean a PS3 controller? All you need is bluetooth on your computer, same with a Wii remote.

@TBD I don't have a sixaxis, but thanks.
@shingi Would you recommend that over a Logitech wireless controller, since they're about the same price?
@Yasha Any idea how long wired 360 controller cables are? My comp is near my TV and I want to play using an HDMI cable to stream to it, so unless I have a long-ish cable it won't work (it would need to be longer than a GC controller's).
@irken OK, maybe not Logitech then.
@Johnny Sounds interesting but usually these DIY things end very badly for me.
@Yasha Nine feet, $40? Might actually be able to afford that.
@Ravage I have a bluetooth and a Wiimote, but GlovePIE doesn't work on Windows 7.

Good to know if my old PSX controllers ever give up the ghost, then, lol. Doubt they will, though — one of 'em has a cord half chewed up by the dog and it still runs like a champ, haha. :3

I just use an Xbox 360 controller when I need a gamepad for PC games. If you are using a PC most games for windows will let you use the Xbox 360 controller without downloading anything its just plug and play.

Yeah the name has been DualShock 3 since like, 2008. Get with the times tbd

And yes, I love using my DS3 with mah computer, you just have to download a driver for it to work. And you have to set it up via USB before you can set up a bluetooth connection. Unless there's some new way that has sprung up since I got mine working D:

Would you say a wireless 360 controller is worth it for $30? That's about the same price as a wired one usually is.

I am not sure how well the wireless work on the PC but mind you wireless controllers are pretty much just as good as their wired counterparts these days. I just use a wired one cause that was all there was at the time but the I will say that the cord is pretty long longer than the GC cords. I use the wired Xbox controller on my Xbox when I need a third controller and it reaches from my TV to the couch with no problems.

You can also check around for a used one as well if you dont want to pay the 30 bucks for a new one.

You'd also need the 360 wireless pc adapter for the wireless controller.

The Logitech Dual Action Pad is good. I have one and haven't had any problems with it. It comes with a profiler program that is basically a keymapper in case a game you play doesn't support controllers. I've used that program many times with my Pinball games and they work just fine. It should be cheaper too and it looks just like a PS3 controller.

OOPS. Sorry I just realize you want wireless. Not sure if that pad comes with a wireless option but I still like my controller.

The Logitech Dual Action controller is outdated, replaced by the Logitech F310. That line lets you switch between it acting like an old fashioned PC controller (DirectInput) and an XBox 360 controller. I have the wireless one (F710) and it works great. The F710 is $50 though, but the F310 is $30 I think, and of you want rumble there's the F510 for
$40.

Dangit, I just made myself sound like a Logitech advertisement.

I'm pretty okay.
