CoD takes place in alternate realities. Fine, but now there needs to be an explanation of why these alternate realities exist.

Because Activision likes to make money?

Well we could say the same thing about the War in Iraq and Afgantistan were we for the most part fighting allies we armed in the late 80s/early 90s for democracy.

Plus the hook of the game is that your in a PMC so your not fighting for the US but who has the biggest paycheck. Than at the end of the day Call of Duty is just the Modern Day red dawn.

WAT!

I think the series has been established as "Alternate universe" ever since Call of Duty 4 took us to a fictional country and set off nukes...

I just don't think the game's plot is clear enough. They could even make a timeline where things vary. These alternate realities didn't really exist as flashed out as they could be, because there really isn't that much difference between the games.

CoD Black Ops could have lead to Ghosts. Black Ops II could have lead to Advanced Warfare, Morder Warefare II could have lead to Black Ops II, etc, That's partially why I'm confused, because these games aren't different enough to be assigned entirely different universes.

I wouldn't think too hard about it SCAR. Storywise, they jumped off the deepend when they started copying Michael Bay tropes in World at War. By Black Ops 2, I don't think they even expected you to play the story mode. Would be nice if this coming game tried to have a stronger story, and featuring it in the initial reveal helps, but I'm still not totally convinced. Mostly I'm banking on my brother getting it so I can play the singleplayer down the road.

@CanisWolfred
I can tell. I just figured they were all part of the same thing, but the story is actually worse if they can't find a way to tie them together. Seriously, the only reason why this game is set in another universe, is because it has a freaking hover bike.

A hover bike is an entirely different universe? Ya, right.

...it's set 50-100 years in the future. That was, like, the third spoken sentence in the trailer, I think. "Americans have been trying to install demacracies in countries for over a Century" They're probably talking about Cold War US, but who knows, so basically it would be 2050 at least.
