I couldn't find a Board Game discussion that wasn't a year old. So I figured I would start a new topic for people to talk about them.
I just had a Board Game Day with my friends on Sunday. We played Munchkin, Ticket to Ride, Zombie Dice, and Castle Panic. I also own Settlers of Catan but we didn't have time to play it. The most memorable moment of the night was how 6 of us got completely destroyed in Castle Panic. It was my first time ever losing that game and it didn't even have the Wizard's Tower expansion. We were decently organized but it was the last game of the night. We got several rounds of bad luck with drawing monsters and we lost all 6 towers before our 5th round of turns. It was hilarious and terrible. Does anyone else have any fun stories or any suggestions for other board games for my next Board Game Day?
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If I'm not mistaken, I was probably the one who started that year old thread, lol.
Anyhow, I really like Chess, and used to play it all the time on my tablet, but haven't in awhile (it also sucks that no one else in the house wants to play).
I also don't mind some Checkers now & then, and as a kid I loved Sorry! (or was it Parchesi?).

PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I enjoy Chess but i am not experienced enough to do anything good in it lol. My cousin however is amazing at Chess. He got some scholarships by being good at Chess.

Axis & Allies
Great WWII board game but the setup takes about an hour to prepare and the game can take days to finish.
Battle Cry
A terrific 2 player board game about various Civil War battles. It can even be played with one player if you set up the board and play whatever the top card says to play (in 2 player, you have 3 cards to select from but 1 player, just play the top card and go with it). Very fun game...I recommend this over A&A because it doesn't take 64 hours to complete. lol
I love board games, but I've not had experience in most of them. I could play Scrabble in the past, but it's been a while since I touched that thing and now I'm not sure I even remember the rules.
I'd love to play the following with anyone, if they have the time:
Scrabble: I just want to get back into this. I think EA has a free to play Scrabble game with online multiplayer. Anyone interested?
Chess: I really need to learn how to play this game. I'm an above-average A student, so why freakin' not? Unfortunately, I don't even know where to start with this game, much less get someone to play with me.
Checkers: While it may get boring at times, I'd love to play Checkers with someone.
God first.

Ticket to Ride is definitely a lot of fun. It's accessible enough that pretty much anyone can have fun with it.
For card games, I highly recommend Tanto Cuore and Star Realms. Tanto is essentially a much more fun version of Dominion where you collect and play anime maids. Star Realms is an awesome science-fiction deck-builder.
For horror games, my favorites are definitely Betrayal at House on the Hill (it feels like Resident Evil 1 because you're exploring a scary mansion and encountering weird monsters and events, and the board is gradually constructed as you play through the game) and Last Night on Earth (it's like playing through a classic Romero zombie movie).
The problem I have with board games is that its multiplayer exclusive and doesn't have anything single player.
But I love games like Monopoly, Chess, Guess Who?, and many. I remember that I had a board where you could add like twenty board panels each having their own game.

I have a big collection of board games, I don't know what some of them may be named in english. Almost none of my games are the usual ones (Monopoly, chess, Clue...). You can visit Game Board Geek to see what games are popular.
I currently like playing some old ones like Dominion or Bohnanza, they have various expansions or variations. Carcassone, BANG!, Mr Jack, Citadels, Agricola, Ticket to Ride, Dungeon Lords... I personally enjoy Escape from Colditz. Oh, and Tantrix. At home, with my daughter, we play Ubongo, Hive, Dobble, Sitting ducks, Saboteur, Speed cups... I usually carry Werewolves with me... just in case. It's an easy but great casual group game, specially with kids.
Well, there are hundreds or thousands. All these I named are very popular, I think.
In terms of card games (since some people are bringing them up):
As for playing card games, I played a lot of War & Poker (just for fun) when I was younger, and even casually enjoy Solitaire from time to time (usually through digital means nowadays).
As for trading card games, I used to be huge into Yu-Gi-Oh!, though I haven't played it in years (almost want to download the digital version on my tablet, just for old times sake, lol). I also collected Pokémon cards back during it's original phenomenon, though I never actually played it.
As for others, I used to play a lot of Uno as well.

I have the Zelda, Nintendo and street fighter versions of monopoly. I will be getting the fallout version as well when that releases.

I really enjoy playing Bananagrams ( http://www.bananagrams.com/ ), either with my family or when I go round my friends' house. It's a fast-paced, competitive game with similarities to both Scrabble and Boggle. The game progresses without turns as in Boggle, while you build your own interlocking, Scrabble-type crossword.
I own Settlers of Catan, as well as the Seafarers expansion. Probably one of the best board games I've played in a long time. I definitely would like to try more expansions.
I'm a big fan of deck building games too (no CCGs though). Ascension, Star Realms and Dominion are all awesome. Ascension is the easiest deck building game to learn, also. If you have a lot of people, Among the Stars is another game you might want to check out.
