I haven't played the first two, but the preorder bonus on Steam includes the first Bioshock, TF2 items, and the new XCOM game. That's a really good deal. I have 10 hours to decide whether to preorder it or not lol. Not sure what I should do...
Honestly I don't think you'd need to play the first ones to enjoy Infinite. But the preorder is a great deal.
I've got to admit, I've been avoiding reading about it as much as I can, so I don't know for sure if the plot relates to the original in any way, but I'm pretty sure that early on in the development Levine said it wasn't really tied to that story, but a brand new one. A spiritual successor if you will.
Yeah from what I have heard/read too is that you dont need to have played the first two games to understand this one. Which is great for me since I have never played the first two but I want to play this one.

Alright, I appreciate the feedback from you guys above. I'll bite the bullet and "preorder" it (with 8 hours to go ).
I guess since it comes with the 1st Bioshock anyway, I can always play that first if I so desire. And this way I won't be out of the loop when everyone I know is talking about the game.
At first the change in style from the first two games disappointed me a bit, but the more I've seen and heard about this the more excited I've become. I NEVER drop sixty dollars on a game (well, aside from when I first get new consoles), but I am seriously tempted to pay full price to get this one sooner.

Anypony else picking this one up on Steam? :3
Nope going to be picking it up at Target tomorrow after work.

Well, I think it's safe to say this game is phenomenal. It's holding steady at a 96 average on Metacritic right now.
Anyways, I've got a dilema. My dad's birthday is in a month. He loved Bioshock 1 an 2, and I'm sure he'd love this one too. However, I want to play this game. Right now.

Buy it now and give it to him as an early birthday present?

@Tasuki But at the same time, I want to give him a new copy.
I suppose I could give him the PC version and give myself the 360 version, but that's a lot of money... And I already have lots of stuff I still need to play. But at the same time, this is something I need to play.
Arg! Hard decisions.

Anyways, MOVE controls were announced months ago, but does the final release actually support it? If so, I will most definitly get it. Pointer controls officially got me into the first & 3rd person genre, just not the Shooter side. Anyways, MOVE controls were announced months ago, but does the final release actually support it? If so, I will most definitly get it because like you said it looks like a complete fresh of breath air.
