What is the best gaming trilogy accross all systems? I realise that what constitutes a triology is open to debate, so whatever you consider to be a trilogy can be included.I think my choice would probably be the original Super Mario Bros. trilogy, because I actually like SMB2 a lot and consider SMB1 and 3 to be two of the best games ever made. But I'm a staunch Mario fan, and to be honest, I'm more interested in your opinions.

I'll second the Mario trilogy, closely followed by Sonic 1,2,3
This is good

I'd be forced to go with FFI, II, and III (US) on that one, lol

I think one of the best trilogies is Super Smash Brothers, even though I've never played the original, but I'm guessing that it's pretty fun.

Donkey Kong Country.
Awesome Sonic Forum!

Metroid Prime series.
I rule when it comes to games. So deal with it.

@gamerboyshadow5Good call, the first one is more basic than the others but could be seen as 'purer' as a result.
@XD375Another good call, I think DKC3 is better than many suggest and warrants being ranked alongside the other two.

I also count Star Ocean 1 2 and 3, Tomb Raider 1 2 and 3, and Ratchet and Clank 1 2 and 3 in very high regards

On the same system? I'd say SMB too. If not, either the Paper Mario or SSB games.

GB Zelda, Links Awakening and the Oracle games.
there's nothing that's certain... of that you can be certain

On any system(s), so your chosen trilogy could include the Street Fighter on the SNES and the new one on the Xbox for example.
Any consoles, any 3 games in a series that you think makes up the best trilogy.

Another intelligent reply from HARDCORE-NINTENDO-FAN. That's gonna be hard to beat.
I'd say that on the same system the DKC series is the best trilogy. In the DKC series you have three top quality platformers.

I probably rate Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, 3 the best, but the Soul Blazer series (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma) is close up there for me.

Zane already said Monkey Island 1-3 so I'll say hmm... mmm... yes, Fallout 1 - 3!

Bit.Trip 1-3. I just have that feeling.
But for games that are already out, well, that's easy. Mother 1-3. (Though the first one is way too unforgiving for my tastes.)

Interesting, prospective trilogies...I'd say Pikmin will probably be a good one.
