I'm not so into the Battlefield series, but that's a great trailer. Interesting that COD and Battlefield are going in completely opposite directions with their settings now. Should add a good bit of variety to the holiday line-up.

Definitely interested in this! Got tired of the futuristic setting that's been in practically every shooter this generation. Also, it's World War 1! Time to hit the trenches this holiday.

I think EA feels Star Wars Battlefront is their futuristic battlefield lol

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I still think the name is stupid. If its a WWI Battlefield, just call it "Battlefield WWI" or "Battlefield 1914", not "Battlefield 1"!

@GrailUK: not sure what the typical BF music is, but i dont like it when games use licsenced music for trailers. only kojima can get away with that

Are there naval battles in this game?

Based on the title, I thought this was a thread for the first game, lol.

Anyhow, it's interesting to see a major FPS go back to an actual historical conflict, and WWI isn't something that's been explored much in games in the first place, so extra points.

TBH, I'd like to see a few more WWII games again as well. Not to the degree to which they used to be, but there should be at least 1 or 2 each generation, just to see what new life the new tech can breath into it.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

me too! just think about how d-day could be protraied with modern technology!

i would also like games to take other wars into account aswell. i havent heared of a game that features the korean war or the spanish civilwar (which is basically the real beginning of the second world war).

I think the game name makes sense but will cause lots of confusion. Basically the logic of this being older than the other Battlefield games. Battlefield 5 will be saved for the next modern game.

To be honest, I prefer the modern ones over the WW ones. Favourite out of all the Battlefield and CoD games was CoD4. However, I'm likely not getting Battlefield 1 or Infinite Warfare. Halo 5's monthly update support for multiplayer as well as Halo Wars 2 will satisfy me on the shooter front.

I still think Activision will still beat EA's BF1. Not with Infinite Warfare, but with Cod4 remaster.

Ok EA don't follow MS and name a entry in a product 1 unless it's the first one.

@KO-Cub: Y'know...you may be right! I demand EA make with the Battlefield Vietnam Remastered IMMEDIATELY!!!!

@KO-Cub: If I end up buying Infinite Warfare it'll be because of the CoD4 remaster.

Trailer looked nice and pretty, and I loved DICE's Battlefront if not Battlefield 4 but I recognise their ability, and I'm sure the game will be super popular and do really well. But after having studied The Great War extensively I cannot see myself personally enjoying whatever EA/DICE's representation of it will be. 900,000 lives lost in Verdun over 8 months just to end up back where they were at the start of the offensive, inept commanders and outdated tactics, hugely pressured propaganda campaigns and outright horrific conditions of the trenches and the stories soldiers had to tell who came out of it all with shell shock.

Yeah I know it's a videogame and keep politics out of my videogames and yadayadayada but there's a reason (if not more than the multiple reasons I listed above) why this is the first WW1 game from an 'AAA' publisher. The only other war I can think of in recent times that would be least suitable for a videogame adaptation (at least if you stick to the truth) would be the war in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Good for you if you can enjoy this videogame for what it ultimately will be but I feel like it should be put into perspective and that we shouldn't forget what WW1 was really like, regardless of whether this is 1080p/60 FPS or even if it works day 1, which would be a massive improvement over Battlefield 4

Peek-a-boo

This is much, much, much more interesting (and original!) than the Infinite Warfare trailer, which didn't help when you have such a terrible cover of Space Oddity playing throughout too.

As someone who has also read a fair bit regarding the First World War, this game also makes me feel a little bit uneasy in some respects, even though we have 'been through' all kinds of real life World Wars in a variety of video games.

I don't think many people realise just how awful WWI really was. It was an aimless war with an appalling amount of deaths. The trench conditions in various places caused more deaths than actual fighting...

In any case, I would like to see some in-game footage the next time DICE shows Battlefield 1.
