I never got past level 3, that car level where you had to jump over or avoid the walls.

Insanely difficult game... I know that I made it past that level, but not too much farther. I never owned it, though, and only played it on emulators years later, so perhaps I didn't have enough investment in the game to keep at it.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

I remember getting far into the game as a kid but never beating it. Of course, I tend to remember getting much further in every game I played as a kid than I probably did. I might just be remembering playing it with someone who had a Game Genie to skip levels. I definitely beat level 3 many a time, though I sympathize with those who can't. It's tough until you've memorized it.

malpon

I never beat it but I did get well past that acursed level 3.

This lesbian bar doesent have a fire exit!

Corbs

I beat the game, but only after months of playing it. I never thought a game would tick me off more than Ghosts & Goblins, but Battletoads did.

Plain old gamer :)

As a kid I couldn't beat the Turbo Tunnel, but many years later, when I rebought an NES (best $10 I ever spent!) I played it again and made it to the ice cave, where precision jumping, slippery surfaces, moving platforms and spiked walls all came together to ruin my life.

If it came to the VC I'd buy it again. I still haven't seen most of the game, but I really do have fond memories of it, and it's one of the most graphically-impressive games on the NES. Brilliant soundtrack, too.

If any game needed an easy mode, though, it's this.

I played it only on the GB but never got past the Turbo Tunnel. I've seen a map of that level, it should've been way shorter.

Raincoat whore!

Reala

It was a really fun game, but multi player was a real pain, too much deaths resulting from friendly fire, an easy mode would have been very welcome.

I love Turbo Tunnel and wouldn't change it. It's a solid candidate for the funnest level of any game I've ever played. The one change I would make to the entire game is no permanent game over. Running out of lives should only make you lose any check points you made it to in the level. The levels are so beautifully designed and wonderfully varied that to cut anything would be a crime.

You have something on your face. No, right there. Yes, that's it.

I am brown-nosing...Battletoads...?

I fail at getting your joke.

Also, I'm pretty sure Battletoads is this guy's all-time favorite video game:

It had nothing to do with the quote. I don't know why I quoted you, but it seemed like the right thing to do. I was just commenting on the ubiquitous mass residing on your face. What is the deal?

Is that a crab? I thought it was chocolate ice cream at first.

Philip_J_Reed

Ohhhh. It's a headcrab. I had the idea to update my avatar in such a way for Halloween, then I realized I'd forget to do so if I didn't just do it RIGHT NOW.

So yes, you get to put up with Headcrab Chickenzombie Brutus until November.

(This was my first idea, then I thought a metroid might be a good one, too. But I couldn't find usable metroid pics as easily as I found headcrabbies.)

Eww. That's not ice cream.

Slapshot

I beat it with my cousin on multiplayer the first couple of times and have actually beaten it on single player as well a few times. Its really not that hard once you get the patterns down on the jet skis and dropping levels though learning the patterns was definately a pain in the neck.

Multiplayer is even harder on Turbo Tunnel since if I remember correctly when one dies, both have to immediately restart from the last checkpoint (which is another thing I'd change, actually, in addition to what I said in my previous post). Or am I imagining that? Might be thinking of another game.
